all A64s and X2s are unlocked downwards ONLY, except the FX series, which are completely unlocked up AND down

Opterons are unlocked UP but not DOWN.

A64s and Opterons are multiplyer unlocked going DOWN only(you can lower it but not raise it).

The FX series chips are unlocked both up and down.

The FSB on all the chips are fully adjustable, depending on the motherboard of course.

Almost all the Intels are unlocked going DOWN only.

The Intel Extreme Editions are unlocked going up and down, but only if the board supports it of course.

Again all the intel processors are FSB unlocked going both up and down, also depending on the board.

Yea right?? :p

I'm reading the thing about how "opterons are unlocked UP but not down" and thats a WTF statement. So then how come my 175 is using a 10x multiplyer??

hehe...

All Intel CPUs are fully locked, except those that support Speedstep (P4 6xx, P-D, mobile CPUs) which are are downward unlocked.

Pentium Extreme Editions (not P4EE) and engineering samples are fully unlocked.

Ive owned several Extreme Editions and none of them were unlockable. They were all socket 478. I also owned engineering samples (all of which are archived here back in 2004 if you care to search) including this one. And my mobo supported unlocked multipliers.

Now if 775s Extremes are mult unlocked thats news to me, but Intel has had policy of locking all retail CPUs going back to the lowly 233mhz pentium classic.
