Mir96TA, you actually want to use HWiNFO64 for that, not CPUID Hardware Monitor. It's a lot more informative.

Get it here

Open it up as "Sensors only" and scroll to the bottom, you'll see GPU info like here:

This Bios didn't give Unlocked Shader but did gave me 2GB!
This Bios gave me Unlocked Shader Via RBE Bios Editor and unlockd shaders (1536)
So what in the world I have ?:sneaky:
I am not sure what HWiNFO64 proves it :hmm:

you have a controller lm96163. that's not on reference cards.

and the up6266 voltage seems to be off. mine shows 0.95-1.15

overclock that sucker.

I understand I do not have a reference Vram controller; now it is a good thing or bad ?
What up6266 Voltage mean ? What .95-1.15 mean ?

i don't know if you have a reference vram controller or not.

i mentioned the lm96163 because that's not on reference cards. amd engineers probably added it for testing purposes.

i don't know what up6266 is. that's beyond the scope of most users. i made a thread on here earlier and nobody really responded.

just overclock the card and tell us the clocks you get.

Google:

lm96163. Basically, it's a temp sensor and fan controller

up6266 seems to be a popular voltage controller used by MSI in it's custom cards. You might try Afterburner to see if it will adjust voltage.

Yep, VT chip is GPU voltage controller/VRM temp sensor.

uP chip is RAM voltage controller.

And LM chip is the GPU temp sensor.

Well I do not want to O.C and burn out the Mem CHiPs

I guess they wanted to do some testing.......

Now my question is my card is supposedly a 6970 2MB card ?
Can I run 6970 2MB Bios safely ?
Is there some reference out there where I can compare the chip or /may compare the VRM and Memchips among 6970 ?

Yea I guess I can some Benchmarks
AMD never release this card to public or retail
I got it from a engineer who works at ATi ;)
How do you want me to run Benchmark ?
AT reg speed ? of 6970 ?
MAX O.C allowed by CCC ?

No oc run @ 6970 stock speed,it will make the comparison easier. The ES samples are really fun to play with.

And by the way, I wanted to mean the 2MB thing u mentioned instead of 2GB by "When AMD released that beast ?" :p

Heee My Typo!
Here is a stock setting when I got the card

uP chip is RAM voltage controller.

where are hearing this?

my 6950 and a couple of other 6950/6970 cards i've seen has that particular voltage set at 0.95 idle and 1.15 load.

op's card is the first card i've seen that is hitting 1.5 volts.

Interesting how your card is unlocked to a "true" 6970. Device id in gpuz shows 6718 (which is 6970). Most reference cards that were flashed from 6950 to 6970 still retained the old device id of 6719 (which is 6950).

Some people say device id is hard coded and separate from the bios. They say you need to manually enter it in, but you got it changed with a simple bios flash.

When you flashed the bios, did you have to reinstall drivers when you rebooted? what 6970 bios did you use?

Why wasn't this card released to the public?
Because it was ES ? or for R/D ?
Dunno I am not aware of reasoning of ATIi :hmm:

I had to do a Force Flash to Load 6970 Bios!
ScreenShot you see is off 6970 2GB Bios.
Then Remove the Video Driver, HDMI Driver and CCC.
Then Power off and Power on
Install the Drivers!
That is the Process I have used.
What I am running is 6950 2GB Bios with unlock shadders. When I am I can take screen Shot off that too.

Sometimes manufacturer can "lock" the ram if it had manufacturing problems. Perhaps what you have is a proccess prototpe for turning "bad" 6970s into good 1gb 6950s? If that is the case i suspect there may be other 6950s out there which are reflashed 6970s due to manufacturing flaw which prevents the sale of them as 6970.

See the Pic above it has same 6950 ID but 2 GB with unlock shadders.
When you change the BIOS two different Hardware; of course it will change Device ID too.
