To change it, it is real simple. Just navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\America Online\AOL Instant Messenger (TM)\CurrentVersion\Buddy\

and Modify Max buddies in Deciamal, and change it to how every many you want yoru max buddies to become, i.e. 500.

😀

*found that at TweakXp.com

<< You is a freak if you have 500 buddies.

I have about 20, so don't feel so bad.

I doubt it. gaim in linux has always had an unlimited buddy list, but whenever i login via the windows client, i dont have my whole list. i dont think it's syncronizing w/ the server properly b/c it's too big.

I don't use AIM (only rarely), but I have 14 people on my ICQ list. Why someone would need in excess of 200-300 people is beyond me. Where would you find the time to talk to all these people, and where do they all come from?

Living at college & making alot of friends?

Maybe he's just an AIM pimp 😀

Yeah, I noticed that key when I was backing up my AIM registry enteries the other day.. I thought about changing it then realized I don't have over 100 buddies 😛

If I don't talk to someone for a length of time I just delete them from the list. I only have like 11 on my aim list, yet I talk to all of them frequently, I don't imagine being able to talk to 200 people often, and forget maintaing any other type of life in the process.

<< I'll keep that in mind, but with 25 people now, I'm not worried😉 >>

yeah, i've only got 85 people on my buddy list.. and i probably only talk to about 10 of them on a regular basis

I have about 50 on my list... I only talk to my closer friends. I don't see the point in having someone on ur list who you don't even talk to, unless it's for occasional homework help or something like that. I do however have about 30 people on my block list because most of the time it's people asking me for homework and not vice versa... which I don't see the logic in since my GPA hovers around 3.3 🙂

Online-have-never-met buddies don't count towards your buddy list count... you greedy bastards. Unless you've been working on hooking up with them. 😉

Anyone know how to increase limit on Yahoo????

it has a hundred limit also... had to delete a bunch of people (some have diff. logins) to add new one's and I am in contact with most of them at least once a month.

I know someone is gonna kick my ass...... 😉 but the easiest way would be to use trillian. You can connect to an unlimited amound of screen names at one time so there is an unlimited amount of people you can have on your contact list. 🙂

Somewhat irrevelant from the original post: since my buddy list is stored on AIM servers, does that mean I can reformat, reinstall AIM, log onto my name and all of my settings and buddy lists will automatically be there?
