<< Somewhat irrevelant from the original post: since my buddy list is stored on AIM servers, does that mean I can reformat, reinstall AIM, log onto my name and all of my settings and buddy lists will automatically be there? >>

Your buddylist & block list, ect....yes. Your settings (if you have it docked, fonts, ect.) will not. Also a nice feature of it being stored on AOL's servers is that you can go from computer to computer & your buddylist will be there.

<< I don't use AIM (only rarely), but I have 14 people on my ICQ list. Why someone would need in excess of 200-300 people is beyond me. Where would you find the time to talk to all these people, and where do they all come from? >>

Ive always been the type to hang out in large groups so ya get alot of screen names that way. Plus im in college so i have most of my fraternity brothers on there as well. I prolly talk to about 150-160 of the 207 i have right now.

I wonder how many of the 207 buddies are duplicate names that people have. It's called spring cleaning. :D I go from about 100+ to 30 or so by deleting people I don't really care about. LOL.

I have all of 38 and all are friends or family from the real world. Even if you have 500+ on there you are saying you actually talk to them all, do you sepnd 24 hours a day online or something?

AIM used to cut you off at 160 buddies, but the newer versions don't seem to do that. i have about 170 on my list and talk to like 15.

<4.7 allowed 160
4.7 & 4.8 allow 200
but any allow unlimited with some 'work' ;)

I've got 161, and I know each of them by face and name, but I only talk to about 20 on my list. On occasion there may be a need for me to contact one of the other 141, so it is nice to have their name. I doesn't cost me anything to leave them on there, I wouldn't gain anything by deleting them.

I've got 174, and I know about 160 by face and name, and see about 150 of them pretty regularly. Talk to about 30 online regularly. Again, good to have just in case you need some info.
