I was on a United flight from Dulles to LAX and some old Russian guy took his shoes off and damn near choked half the cabin on the stench. I don't think he had bathed in a month. The flight attendants made him put his shoes back on.

Sounds like it was just a shitty flight attendant afraid of confrontation.
 
United Airlines has a notoriously weak masturbatory policy. If she truly was offended, and knew she would be offended by in-flight masturbation, she should have chosen another airline that deals with masturbation in a manner she finds appropriate. I think she was just shopping for a lawsuit and finally got on an airplane with a creeper.
