Unhappy PSP Purchase at Gamestop!

I just picked up my PSP from Gamestop yesterday and found out that it had around 2-3 dead pixels, with one of them being right in the center of my screen. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed and immediately packed the system up.

After calling my gamestop, I find out that I can't even get a return/exchange on my PSP without purchasing a $30 warranty from Gamestop. Does anyone else find this completely outrageous??? I'm simply not happy with my defective purchase. I understand that I won't be able to get an exchange because they aren't expecting another shipment for 2-4 weeks but they won't even let me get a refund either. Is there anything I can do?

Did this require a new thread? There's already a PSP dead pixel thread. I swear, we seriously do need a PSP forum

Call your local Attorney Generals office. Your state probably has a law governing returns of defective merchandise.

I just read about a person having the exact same situation in another thread. I'm never buying anything from Gamestop again...I also have a very bad taste in my mouth with the PSP.

Does it really make a difference? I bet if I ran the pixel test I'd find around 5-6. I just can't stand the dead pixel that is right in the center of my screen. It's like my version of Spiderman 2 comes with the biggest blackhead you'll ever see on Peter Parker's face.

well, I know that on Samsung LCD monitors, it has to have 8 dead pixels before you can RMA it . . .

but then again, they have A LOT more pixels. . . 1600x1200 as opposed to 480x272 (shouldn't it be 480x270  )

Did you pay with a CC? If so give your company a call and see what if anything they can do with this sort of situation.

If you paid with something other than CC, I think I would pay the $30 extended warranty or whatever name they are giving it, and then set about making sure you get your $30 worth.

Yup, call up your CC company if you used a card. They'll treat you right if you explain it's a defective merchandise.

Trust me with all the negative pub that Sonys been getting over this, its just a matter of time till they start accepting all returns on the thing for busted pixels. They cant afford to lose 30% of their launch sales on the unit.

That is what I would do, there are laws against that type of BS.

again, did they give notice of the change? if not they can't tell you that you can't return it. if they gave notice, you're SOL.

You can't charge someone to return a defective product. They could face big legal trouble if they are trying to pull that sort of crap. Probably because they know all too well about the number of defective units.
