my first one had two...the second one (that I have in my possession now) has three. I'm thinking of just giving up...or I may try one more time. Did anyone get one with 0 dead pixels?

You can't charge someone to return a defective product. They could face big legal trouble if they are trying to pull that sort of crap. Probably because they know all too well about the number of defective units.

Sony doesn't consider them defective, why should gamestop?

i had one dead pixel and on one of the PSP forum they said to try and tap where the pixel is with ur finger(make sure u put a cloth on the screen first)

mine went away 🙂

When I pay $250.00 + I expect it to work without needing to tap, lick, smack, shake, or anything else of the sort. Then again, that's just me.

I have a friend with one. It seems that everyone has the problem. I knew some sh!t like this would happen. Thats why I didn't buy one at launch.

I posted an answer to your problem in another thread that you posted in. If you did'nt read it, here it is:

I just picked up my PSP from gamestop and there are about 2-3 dead pixels. I wouldn't be that pissed but one of them is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN. Wow...talk about totally losing all interest in the PSP in a matter of seconds. After I saw that, I just turned off my PSP and put it back in the box, without even trying any of the games or movies. Gamestop informed me about purchasing a $30 extended warranty if I wanted to replace the PSP with a dead pixel free unit. Otherwise, they won't be exchanging it with another one. Is there anyway to circumvent this policy? What should I do?

What you do is that you go crazy on the guys who are there. You tell them that Gamestop sucks and you'll never purchase another product form them again. You argue with them and force them to get the manager of the store to come in because you feel that the employees are incompetent and are ripping you off by not exchanging a faulty product.

This is how I feel: You never agreed to anything about a dead pixel thing when you bought the handheld, unlike you usually would when you go on newegg (replacements for 8 or more dead pixels only). But there is none of that a gamestop, meaning that when you bought your psp, you were expecting it to be free from defects, and as gamestop has no policy, they need to give you a new one. You should not pay a warranty charge to get a new one, you need a new one free. Extended warranty to get a replacement? That is complete bs! 1 dead pixel on a small screen is similar to 14 dead pixels on a normal screen as sombody said above, which is completly unaceptable.THE PRODUCT HAS A DEFECT, IT IS BOTHERING YOU, YOU DESERVE A FREAKING REFUND OR REPLACEMENT!

yeah you really need to go nuts on them. don't try to get agreement over the phone, just go down there and don't leave until you get your money back. or arrested, whichever comes first.

We should get a mob complete with torches and pitch forks and all walk into gamestop with you guys's(or girls whatever) psp's.

First of all, this will be the last PSP thread I read. Number one, because people are too f*cking stupid to read the other posts about battery life. It's just someone stating the battery life of the PSP, and then the next thread: SO WAT BATERY LIEF DUZ IT GET?

I suspect this will be one of MANY 'My PSP has a semi-dead screen' threads. Call Sony and get an RMA. And don't quit until you get them to fix it. I did the same when they're PS2 totally f*cked up on me. I got them to overnight UPS my PS2 both ways and they totally replaced the laser unit. If GameStop won't do anything, I guess Sony is one of your last resorts.

Just another reason I don't buy hardware at launch.

That's why I'd only buy something like that from Best Buy, KMart, Target or Circuit City. Say what you want about them, but at least you can exchange stuff without a problem.
