I was chatting with a good friend of mine about little stuff like Christmas presents, what to do on New Year, and the existence (or lack thereof) of God.

Then I asked her if she saw Lord of the Rings. She must have been living in the cave for the past several months or something. Here was it went:

me: have you seen lord of the rings?
cave-woman: no- what's that?
me: only the best book/movie of all time
cave-woman: who wrote it?

I saw the movie and it was ok, well it was a whole hell of alot better than harry potter, but i went b/c a hot girl asked me.

Well, to be honest *gasp* when i met my girlfriend she hadn't heard of LOTR either...but now she is fully aware of my brutal and undying obsession with JRR Tolkien and she accepts it and takes great pleasure in calling me a dork 😀
BTW she read the trilogy and loved it...and yes i made sure she started with the hobbit. I get to go see the movie with her for the first time in 2 days. i've already seen it 4 times myself though 😀

Yeah you're right...I should give her one more chance 🙂

If she still doesn't submit to the all encompassing power of Tolkien, I guess I'll become a friendless loser and spend all my time racking up 314 posts in 1 month like antnyc.
 
Heck, I have friends that have never seen any of the Star Wars movies. It's really not terribly important in this big thing called life.

In all seriousness I think I really am sick of these LOTR zealots.. it's a wonderful trilogy but the damn world doesn't revolve around it..
