Who to believe...the CBO or the millions of jobs lost SINCE the stimulus was passed. That's the great thing about using a line like "3 million jobs created or saved." You can fudge that number anyway you like while spending billions on slush fund projects that have nothing to little to do with actual job creation. Or you can just send millions to non-existent districts to create non-existent jobs...

i.o.w. "I didn't read the link or address how my original post was made out of context because I have my view and I'm not changing it nana-nana-nana no matter what the CBO or anyone else says even though I can't show how they're wrong."

How long is a reasonable time frame for that? I'm just curious. Is "instantaneously" the only acceptable time frame?

You do know that Obama was elected during the month of November right?

No, I did read it but it's hard to accept the CBO numbers in the context of the current state of the economy and news like this.

Highway-construction companies around the country, having completed the mostly small projects paid for by the federal economic-stimulus package, are starting to see their business run aground, an ominous sign for the nation's weak employment picture.

The month the stimulus passed, there were 6,593,000 people employed in construction. The most recent job numbers show that 5,966,000 were employed. So there's been a loss of over 600,000 jobs in the construction industry and it's getting worse. And this was supposed to be the "shovel ready" portion of the stimulus.

Then they turn around and count jobs that receive a raise as a "saved job". BS

Yeah I've been following this in the news for over a year but this really jumps out. Holy crap it's bad. Maybe seems worse to me now that I'm one of those unemployed.

I never liked most of the stimulus act from the beginning. Not enough stimulus on infrastructure (power and other utilities, road/highway/bridge, IT security for government infrastructure, etc) and it seems like a lot is just wasted already. Though I have to admit I do appreciate the 65% COBRA subsidy.

Finally! Why did it take you so long to post a real criticism? It is so frustrating here at times. The stimulus bill is crap and people complain that it is crap for blatantly wrong reasons. Why can't they just complain that it is crap for correct reasons?

The fact that the job situation was worse than Obama's team estimated months before the election is a meaningless complaint.

The fact that the stimulus package is an expensive waste that won't provide long term stimulus is a valid complaint.

So why did it take you so long to mention a real complaint? I guess I expected more of you Queasy.

I vote we "downsize" the country to remain fiscally strong. We should close Arizona, Florida and, Michigan. Perhaps we could lend/lease the States to China.

**Now, where do I sign up for my quarterly bonus?**

Spoke to two headhunters today. Both said employment picked up in Q4 '09 as companies contracted too much in 2008/2009 and are starting to free up some capital to boost hiring.

They also stated that wages are down due to competition but people with good backgrounds and education are being snapped up.

Breaking news: Unemployment rate drops to 10%. While 11,000 jobs were lost in November, that was the best posting in 23 months.

Here is another view of jobs since the stimulus plan:

The scary part is is that the Michigan Governor was part of the Obama Economic Advisory Team after he was elected. She was up for a Cabinet position but decided to stay as Governor.
The problems here in MI go far beyond who the govenor is now. Years of tax breaks going to the automotive industry and investing in automotive and blue collar jobs have really hurt MI. The industries are dying and MI is suffering.

You can thank Romney and Milliken for starting that wonderful trend of paying automotive companies to come to MI. The rest of the governors after that just kept the status quo. We started paying for it a few years ago and today its even worse thanks to the economy.

I am glad I am working for a healthcare organization.
