Congratulations! This may well be the lamest ad hominem in the history of P&N.

It's unfortunate that this is the only refutation you could essay for my post - unfortunate, but not at all unexpected.
 
If only the Roadblock Republicans didn't stand in the way of actual economic policies other than cut taxes.

That way if the economy grew more they could say "Hey, we worked in a Bipartisan manner with the President."

If it tanked they could point at the president and say "We told you his onerous taxation policies would make the economy worse"

Instead every time they were offered an outstretched hand they responded with a backhand to the face (figuratively speaking).

As a result Congress in general has the lowest public approval ratings in recent memory and now they're in the uncomfortable position of cringing inwardly every time there is good economic news, mild as it is, or trying to spin it so that they're responsible even though they did their best to just say no to the president....

This is reaching a new level of pathetic.
 
The only good coming out of the 2012 Election is SS people got a raise this year . and likely in 2012 also as it will be announced befor election . Obummer tring to buy votes, But there won't be a cost of living raise in 2013. This last SS increase was pretty transparent. It was about buying votes. The sad part is . The asswipe is buying votes with tax dollars.

I've never called Bush my hero, you idiot. I've criticized his policies before on other forums; just not here, as I joined after the current sock puppet took over.

Are things better now than in mid 2009? In some respects, yes. Housing sales are still bad. Real estate tax delinquencies are still bad. Cost of food / energy has gone up. The current admin is fudging the employment numbers so that lackwits like you feel better. The current admin is doing nothing substantial to stimulate the private sector to create jobs - jobs that actually CREATE tax revenue. Many people have given up looking for work. Our real unemployment rate is at least 12%.
 
The other part of the unemployment numbers that don't show is people that are underemployed. I heard one of the guys at the grocery store complaining that they had hired another employee instead of giving the current guys a full 40 hours , he was at 32 hours a week and wanted more but the manager said they were trying to spread the hours out so everyone would at least get something.
 
I am not sure if it is indicative of a recovery, or just a localized thing, but I live in a new home development which has seen only 1 home sold in the last year. Just last week, though, NINE homes were sold in one day!

I am hopeful the long overdue recovery is finally being allowed to start.
 
Yeah, houses are getting snapped up fast here as well. Feels like a bottom. Prices haven't recovered, but supplies are going down, and get bought up quick. I think there could be a pop soon.
 
1.2 million Americans dropped out of the workforce in January; they gave up looking for work. In simple English, if less people are looking for work, it looks like less people need jobs. Also last week, the Congressional Budget Office released its projected employment outlook for the next few years, in which they predicted the unemployment rate will be at 8.9% during the last quarter of 2012 and rise to 9.2% for the last quarter of 2013

I'm with the majority here, as minute as this might be I'm glad it's at least not getting worse... my fiancee turned to me in bed last night and said one of her best friend's family is going to lose their house. They lost their jobs 2-3 years ago, and her friend was personally paying for the mortgage on the house... the costs have gotten too great and her parents still haven't gotten jobs. My guess is they ran out of unemployment and unfortunately one person's salary (esp a recent grad nurse probably making 50-60k) cannot afford a mortgage and to feed 3 grown adults.

How sad.

So I'm glad it's at least getting a little better. Now if it just stays like this and the friends I know who have lost jobs actually GET new ones.

According to the BLS employment report for January, you are wrong. If it's a conspiracy, then why didn't the BLS under Bush lie to dumb down the job losses in late 2008 in order to protect Bush's legacy and/or ensure a republican victory?

Beyond that, please source your own claim.
