Undelivered mail question :(

So I have a little problem, my mom has not been able to receive mail on time for the past 2-3 months. Things like bills, mortgage statements, etc... are being delivered 2-3 weeks after the payment is due. The mail delivery is also sporadic, some days she doesn't get any mail, some days she gets mail after 9PM. Mind you this is in a populated area with many apartment complexes nearby and not out in the woods somewhere.

Just this week, she just received an advertisement for a Fourth of July sale at Robinson's May when July is almost over and her insurance company called to verify her address since their statements were deemed undeliverable. Luckily I was able to go online to pay the bills but I don't understand how this could've happened with the insurance company.

I talked with the local post office over the phone (and in person) several times and each time they give me different excuses (heavy route, no regular mail carrier, advertisements are sometimes delayed... etc.) and left several messages for the supervisor explaining the situation but I feel they are just ignoring me.

Is there anyone else I could talk to? Would the post master general or some official be able to help?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Post Office doesn't care, I just had a package delivered 2 1/2 months late and their delivery tracking said it came the first week of May.

If it's only a delivery issue not sorting maybe just rent a PO box and go pick up your own mail for a while.

There's a big difference between one package coming late, and having chronic, ongoing delivery issues.

You need to speak to the Postmaster of your local PO. Call him/her, make an appointment, and explain that you are getting mail delivered WEEKS after it should have arrived (and from all different areas, so they don't blame the sender's PO) and you have had your mail returned to the sender as undeliverable, and this has been going on for over two months.

I wouldn't even mention the ads. The important thing is to get them to solve your delivery problems with first-class mail.

Before you go to the PO, have you made SURE all the mail is addressed properly? No variations in name and/or address?

Bring a few pieces of first-class mail to demonstrate the problem - write on the envelope when it was delivered and let the Postmaster see the postmark when it was mailed. That will also ensure the Postmaster knows the mail is properly addressed.

Explain you have called and been given some excuses, that you understand there are occasional delivery issues, but you can not tolerate having this go on month after month without any solution.

I suspect that will be enough to solve the problem, but if not you can file a complaint with the area USPS Consumer Affairs office. Find one here.

Thanks Kranky, will do. I don't understand since my mom has lived at the address for over 10 years and this is the first time it's happened. No variation in addresses, no changes (except probably the mail carrier), also give Christmas gifts to the carrier and my mom is always courteous to them.
