Unbelievable. MY Wii sucks!

waggy

No Lifer
i got my wii about 1.5 years ago. I played it pretty solid for about 5 months then got bored with it (great system but needs some better games) and it sat around.

in march of this year (linky to me whinning!) i had a read error. OK i bitched and cried and payed $25 and sent it in. it played great and i got bored again.

Well my daughter got a princess game for a gift we go to play it and i get the same damn error yet again (this was on like the 6th). i call Nintendo and they say they willm ake sure its fixed this time. i mail it in (free this time) and get it back the Saturday i think. we go to play it last night and guess what? SAME DAMN ERROR. BUT this time it had scratched up my disk. i didn't notice on wii sports and i had tried wii play (no big loss) and super Mario galaxy. All have big circle scratches on them.

i call and they say to send it in again and they will fix it. i was pissed off. Finally they say they will ship me a unit that has been repaired at Nintendo and not a 3rd party shop. i will then send my unit back.

BUT i lose all my games i downloaded to the system and what wii points i have not used (over $40 worth of stuff).

i said that it was not acceptable. why should i lose the games i downloaded because they can't build/repair the system correctly. she said the only way they could do it is if i send in the system and they attempt to fix it yet again. i said that was not acceptable either. they have had 2 try's to fix it and they have not been able to.

i mentioned i have been a long time Nintendo owner and had 3 DS's and that i feel like my loyalty was only earning me a screwing.

she said she would talk to management again and see what she could do.after about 20 minutes on hold she said they would be able to credit me the wii points if i still had the card. i said thats impossible since i purchased the card well over a year ago. she said then she can't help. Again i asked to talk to a manager because this was not acceptable.

She said she would see if there was anything she can do. another 20 minutes on hold and she said i will be credited the wii points.

she said i will receive the new one in a few days and put the old on in and ship it back. i asked if the new games would be in she said no. that the scratched games are not part of it. i mentioned they were fine BEFORE the attempted "repair". she put me on hold yet again and said she will RMA them and if damaged they will send me new ones.

So far this system has cost me lots of time for little amount of playing. I am not impressed with Nintendo's CS either. i think I'm done having it repaired and will write it off. the damn system and CS is a joke.

well at least my DS's are working great.

Sounds almost 1/10th as bad as M$'s customer service.

Can you say 20+ hours on hold just trying to get my freaking prepaid XBL Gold card to work?? Absolutely the most ridiculous experience I've gone through...

Why can't there be more customer service groups like you'd find with EVGA or BFG where it's a "it broke on you? Oh crap, we're sorry, how can we fix it!"

That's strange, I've heard nothing but great things about Nintendo's CS.

I don't know much about MS's, but I don't believe for a second that anyone would spend 20 hours on hold over a XBL Gold card that couldn't have cost more than $50.

evga and bfg needs customers probaly alot more than lets say MS and Nintendo.
with high priced PC components, you always get the users who feel they'd rather not spend exorbint(i know mispelled) amounts on items that can do the same for less. so nintendo and MS and even sony hit the nail on the head there. so if you get crappy customer service. its because your a small small portion of there business. as for evga and bfg they need every sale they can get.
i know ill continue to buy evga cards as long as they continue to be awesome 🙂 im on my 4th evga card myself, and others i recommend woot

on another note using M$ is stupid. because id take M$ over apple any day.

when my DS broke like 2 years ago they fixed it no problems. Even replaced a game that ended up being counterfit (wich i purchased new from target).

but with the wii its diffrent. first time it broke (right over a year) they wanted $75 to fix it. wich i thought was bullshit for a $250 system. finally got them down to $25 (read online you complaine enough they will do it for free).

seems time have changed.

That's actually even worse than MS since MS has supposedly fixed transferring DLC from RRoD units to new ones.

That's down to the level of Sony's movie purchase service: download it once, period. Replacement or new PS3? Too bad New hard drive? Nope, sorry.

Believe it...and my card only cost $40.

Reason was it wasn't letting me create a new account (it was when I first got my 360 back in late '06). Without it I couldn't play online at all.

Actually PS3 games are OK -- 5 installs allowed last time I checked, some yarrr mateys here have split the cost of games to share on their PS3s. It's the movie downloads that are a one-time download limit.

I've never bought any movies on PSN 'cause I prefer all the movies I buy on physical media. But I do know all the games and DLC I bought on PSN can be redownloaded by signing into the same account I bought the games and DLC on.

ahh thats cool, how about ps1 games? i read that once gone there gone

just wanna add, even though off topic. i realized that paying the 6bux on the sony store is cheaper than buying it off ebay.. yes i dont get the cutesy manual.. but who really reads that it 🙂 i bought 3 classic games for under 20 bux that normally would have cost me alot more.

When my DS broke they charged me $85 to fix it. They saidi that is was out of warranty because I bought it more than a year ago, but I was still pissed off because it broke from their stupid design flaw (cracked hinge).

I think PS1 games fall under the same 5 system limit that the other PSN games do, though I'm not 100% on that. I've shared games with a couple of people before, but I don't recall if they downloaded any PS1 games or not. You do get the manual in electronic form. You can hold the Home button to bring up the system menu and see the option to read the manual there.

After reading the comment of that site you linked, I now see what a common problem a cracked hinge is.

WTF Nintendo.

Same with Xbox 360. The problem with the Wii is that there is no account to tie the purchases to like with the 360 and PS3. Just the console. Nintendo should just give back the same amount in Wii points that was lost. They apparently make it difficult though.

Yeah, i brought this up before with the Wii downloads. Since my first Wii got stolen with about $200+ VC games on it, i called them stating my Wii got stolen and they still insisted the only way to get them back is to send in the original console and transfer them to the new one. Pretty retarded. Nonetheless, I had to RMA 2 Wii's and it was pretty painless. Both got fixed and the paper stating we did not encounter the issue you were having "replaced part#". LOL

No Nintendo has to transfer your games to another console. You have to send it in to do this.

i only buy DLC when you can redownload stuff at anytime e.g. PSN, amazon mp3, and steam. i mean, one of the main advantages of DLC over physical media is that it should be available to you at anytime since you're not really buying something physical, just the license to the content.
