The MOST excruciating pain I have ever dealt with for about 24 hours! The snipping of the two "tubes" made me jump a foot off the table. It felt as if you were kicked hard in the crotch. After that there was getting no rest as that area just throbbed. I found out in a Hell of a hurry............ICE IS MAN'S BEST FRIEND AFTER THIS PROCEDURE!

After having two kids back to back while my wife and I were both using birth control, I'm glad I did it!

Jesus H Christ Aceman, that isn't good news at all. :disgust:

I won't be doing it for another decade or so hopefully it will be better by then!

Mr Islahad no problems. In fact, he was amazed at how simple and painless the whole thing turned out to be. He was sore for a day or two afterwards, but no big deal.

A nice side effect is that I have so much respect and gratitude for his action (he is the only person in his family to ever do such a thing) that I reward him quite regularly. ;)

The lunch hour is Happy Hour around here. :D

not much, if it is done by a good guy.

had 1 a few yrs ago. 2 small incisions about 3/8" each, one stitch each. somewhat sore /painful the next day, enough to take a pain pill.

did it under local, took about 30 min.

went to work the next day without a major problem ( office type job ), was sore for about 7-10 days.

And then I know a couple of guys who could barely walk for 2 weeks.

I am not sure the docs know how much trouble the guys have, but their office staff do. They are the ones that take the calls.

Ask around & you will see that a lot of guys have been "cut". Use a doc that has the best rep for no post op pain.

Oh hey, Aceman...

Us, too! I could not believe I was pregnant the last time... It just didn't seem possible. Amazing what those vigorous little swimmers can get through!

:D :D :D

edit:

Let me say one more thing....

God bless all you brave, responsible, V'd men! Women everywhere salute you!

Just make sure that the surgeon's name isn't Loreena. ;)

BTW, if you want to avoid this and use an old Amerindian contraceptive technique, you could dip your testicles into very hot water. That'll kill the little critters in about 1/2 hour. That'll also kill your urge to have sex in seconds. ;)

<< can it be reversed? >>

Well, in the waiting room at the guy we went to was a book of 'miracle babies'.

Apparently, our doctor specializes in knitting men back together so that when they divorce the old wife for a new, younger model who wants children, they can be just as good as new again!

So, I told Mr. Isla not to worry. ;)

It can be done under general anaesthetic - it's up to you and your surgeon to decide whether you want local or general. In either circustance this is a simple day-case procedure, but if you have the general then you will be hung over for the rest of the day at least so you will need to have someone at home with you for 24-24 hours.

Is the procedure reversible? Short answer: No.
Long answer: Maybe, but reversal is a tricky operation with a fairly unimpressive sucess rate. If it is reversed within 10 years, results are better. For practical purposes, you should consider the operation as irreversible.

Other points: Takes up to 3 months for stored sperm to be used up/die - during this time, fertility remains. A semen sample will be needed 3-4 months after the op to confirm that it has worked.

:eek::eek: That would be the worst part of the whole procedure- having to give a semen sample:eek::eek:! I can't think of anything more embarassing!

My experience: Had the procedure performed in December of 1999....The anxiety was the biggest problem....Yes, the shots hurt, the cut caused me jump and made me sort sick (the cut of the tubes that is), and I almost hyperventelated....The soreness lasted for a couple of days....Everything resumed to normal after that...But....

This is where it becomes interesting.....The Doc. missed a tube :Q ....I had to repeat the procedure a second time in February of this year....Even though I had already done this before and I thought I would be prepared....I wasn't! :Q Hyperventelated worse this time! Although there was absolutely no pain or soreness afterward on the second attempt..

Good luck on whoever receives vasectomy...I hope none ever have to do it twice....

P.S. That's what I get for saying "Thank God I'll never have to do this again!" after the first....

Well my problems were related to the fact that I had a high tolerance to drugs. Valium sp? has NO EFFECT on me, percocet has little effect on me and the lanolin they used around the area never really numbed the tubes before they snipped.
Submitting the sample at the Air Force hospital 6 weeks after the procedure was the best part......I had a young female airman trying to explain what I had to do. I walked away with the cup and said "I'll be thinking of you." Came back to turn in the sample and asked "Was it as good for you as it was for me?" Never saw a trained medical person blush so much as I did with her! I had a bad experience. Many out there express that they had no pain at all.

does have the 'ol "snip snip" take any pleasure away from the "BIG O"?

that is one of my concerns.

Although I can't speak from experience, vi_edit, medically I can't see any reason why it would. The big "O" has nothing to do sperm or the tubes.

Oh, NO,

It doesnt hurt at all.

The Doctor (and I) always says "you may feel a little discomfort"

I always say " Maybe YOU will feel a little discomfort but this hurts me like HELL"
