BTW, Insight had a similar deal a few months back on a 2010u (which is the european model of the 1600u).

I purchased this scanner (2010u) and did get the rebate. My only complaint with insight is the scanner comes shipped in the factory carton--not a lot of protection there.
The scanner itself is very cheap. Mostly plastic internals. The light moves via a belt driven assembly, so, it's subject to rapid wear and tear. It's also very bulky and
very slow--even w/ the USB interface it's no faster than parallel models of years past. So, keep this in mind--you get what you pay for. If you need a cheap scanner, this will certainly do the job, just don't expect quality.
Also, There were issues with W2K Drivers and this series (1600u/2010u).
