yup im shure i did....it got all green & spotty then wouldent load into windows, and now it screams at me while my monitor tells me he sill works, anyone know how to fix this? there is no burn smell, and nothing looks fryed, i even took the heat synk off to see, but nothen.

its a nvidia g-force 6800 GT 128m
 
Aspire PSU... they aren't really quality PSUs... they aren't any quality PSU tbh.

Anyway, it could just be a lack of power... Aspire PSUs probably die quickly. Did you try another computer?

it gets hot in this room sometimes and the sun beats down on it all day, i had a small fan in here untill my girlfriend moved it into the livingroom, i even opened the case to let some air in. but i guess playing GW for 5hrs dident help ether
 
Sounds like a PSU problem that might dmg your vga card...if you still have a warranty on that card. I advise you to RMA ASAP and get a better powersupply
 
i've played CS S for days and never got even a twitch from this thing and now....grrr, so theres no way to fix this? maybe if i change that little blue thing my monitor connects to. ahh ill just try someone elses comp and see if its broken completly
 
but what do u mean its the power supply? i had too much power? or some power supplys just blow stuff up cuz thay suck.
 
You have an Aspire power supply. Aspire, for power supplies, is "a bottom feeder."

If it is the powersupply, that means the box just blew, and everything else in your system is not getting the power it should. Try the card in another computer, and see if it still happens. If not, remove your powersupply, then test a new one.

the power is working tho, im on the computer as we speak (thank god for onboard video) but the video card doesent look damaged and im thinking its my agp slot that got murderd or that the card just died. so what happens when a video card over heats? you can smell something burnt or actualy see something damaged right? but in this case there is no damage and no smell, and the power is still working. any other ideas?
 
Just because its working doesnt mean its working well. Just check it anyway, shouldn't hurt. I've never heard of a slot dying though. And trsut me, Aspire is not a good company for power supplies, that's why its the first choice.

Does the fan on the card still spin? Does it work on another computer? Does the card feel warm to the touch when the computer is on?
 
well i gotta get to another computer im gonna call computer ren, and see if thay'll let me test on there computers for free.

He tells you he's OCd it and you say "RAM ASAP- it's clearly a PSU problem!' even when the rest of his system works fine without the card in it?

He's man enough to take responsibility for his mistake and states he won't RMA a card he OCd, I wish everyone on these had this guy's integrity.

Lol yeah, that's my usual advice. But still, both nvidia and ati still provide OC tools..hmmm. But anyways yeah..

 
If I could do it, I'd take up a collection on this board to buy this guy a new 6800NU and start the contributions.

We need more people who have ethics and post "I fried my card by OCing. I'm accepting responsibility for my actions and buying a new one".
 
is there any 6800 gt 120mb? i thougth they all were 256mb. did you change the voltage of the card?, have you check your 12+ lines?

Same here. OCing gains on vid cards are usually fairly trivial anyway at the high end, but if I would have kept using my 6800NU I would have left it unlocked and at a mild OC like 350/425.

I would be fine if the guy asked for an RMA but had given every detail including the fact he overclocked. Some companies may be nice and repair it for a reasonable price. It may save you from forking out for a brand new graphics card.

I agree with Rollo that the OP shows the kind of integrity that doesnt seem to be shared by all. Taking the responsibility for voiding warranty and not trying to RMA it by saying it wasnt overclocked is the right thing to do.
