Am I the only one that finds those pictures morbidly beautiful? It's filled with dark religious imagery and reflections on a sad childhood.. I think it's awesome.. I especially like how it's kinda a parody of those Hummel figures - those little figurines that are scenes of kids having fun (kids on swings, angels playing baseball, etc.).. Great stuff...

I highly doubt there is any sort of inner truth or meaning to these pictures, just someone saying, "Wow, I will be uber 1337 if I paint some bleeding pictures." I can just picture a bunch of people at Hot Topic going ape sh!t over it though. I just think it is extremely cheesy, that's all. :)

Because after all, if artwork cannot be universally appreciated for the time and effort, not to mention the creativity and passion, that went into its creation, then what good is it?

That's it, I'm starting the Art Industry Association of America (AIAA).

Our job will be to find artists who are easy to be mass marketed and we'll shove them down the nation's throat, all the while the rest of the artists will find themselves unable to make a living off their works unless they cave to our demands and sign aggregious contracts ensuring our ownership of all copyrights to the material.

Or........not.

Philistine. :p

That is exactly what this is. These pictures were made so they could be easily marketed (there is a huge market for gory sh1t).

I feel the exact same way.. Add in a few "No one thinks like I do, no one understands me" type thoughts in their head and we have (at least I feel) explained this person out.

You two wouldn't know art if it came up and f*cked you in the orbital sockets.

Do me a favor - Never pretend you know the first thing about art.

K thx bye

You had to go to SCHOOL to LEARN to appreciate art?

Jiminy Christmas.

Demand a refund. You obviously got screwed.

I agree totally.

Well, I'm leaving this thread because you can't force people to appreciate art.. You know, art is subjective.. While I understand what the artist is going for and appreciate his fixation, others will find it trashy and exploitive.. You shouldn't get all worked up about it..

There is a VERY big difference between saying:

"This is art, but I personally don't like it."

And

"This isn't art, because I don't like it, and man, I went to school for four years and paid $50,000 to LEARN how to enjoy art."

WORLDS of differences.

Let's see some of your stuff?

Nothing online, I've only just finished my first year and most of what I have done is on canvas or the like.

I'm not trying to brag or say that I know more about art than anyone, because as pointed out art is very subjective. I was mearly defending myself from the comment that I know nothing about it.

This is just my opinion. I've seen this concept done time and time again, and this guys painting to me do not express any originality or thought. I could be completely wrong and this guy is a genius, that is just my opinion.

I'm only a sophmore, and like I've said I was stating my opinion. So you are saying that it is bad to educate yourself about the arts? I'm not saying I know any more than you do, but I don't know where you get off saying I know nothing about it. I gotta go mow the yard. Flame away if you wish.

LMFAO!!

From the Biography link,

I find it so much easier to be creatively free at night. Daytime is for sleeping. Nighttime is the best time for making art. The later at night it gets the further into another world you go. A few years ago while working very late one night, the distinct smell walnuts in the air broke my concentration. It was very quiet. A strange breeze gently blew through my studio. I suddenly became aware of something on my shoulder. Surprisingly, I was not startled to find a wee Abraham Lincoln sitting right there on my shoulder. We looked at each other for just a moment. Then he very softly whispered in my ear ?paint meat.?

Like I said.. Dudes got issues.

I agree with someone who said this earlier - it looks like some kind of sadistic child porn.
