As in regards to the title..
Well, stealing does have it's risks. And yes, warez is stealing. I'm not condemning it, though. I don't go to college where I can get things at a low price, I'm dead broke, and if I can get it for free, I will. I seriously think that even if everyone did buy software, the prices wouldn't fluctuate very much, if at all. If software companies were selling more software at the same price, why lower it?
As for the morality of it.. if you pirate and don't think it's immoral you're pretty stupid. Buying software is moral, yes, but IMHO, software companies are doing alright in spite of the piraters and Bill Gates isn't gonna miss the $200 I took from him.
<< I'm not trying to make excuses or say that pirating is good or cool. I'm saying that no matter which way you or I get our software, when put in front of it, I am superior. Being legal does not make you better. >>
...and that means about as much as "My daddy can beat up yours!" I never knew there was a "superior" way to obtain software. According to your logic, being legal doesn't make someone "better" but being illegal does. It's a matter of personal preference. Now, lets say some people could get access to the software for free and some couldn't. The person who could get to it for free could in fact say that their method is "superior" to the one who has no access to it. Since all is fair in love and high speed connections, AmusedOne does, in fact, have the ability to pirate software, but he chooses not to. He's just exercising his morals while us that pirate are not. And there's nothing wrong with that at all.. I'm gonna sound like a hypocrite saying this, but maybe more of us need to use those morals more often.
Oh, and speaking of being a hypocrite...
<< Highly unlikely. Most men over 55 can't get it up. And most can't program C for crap.
And if you're better now. That just means you had more practice. Which inturn tells me that my potential is much higher then your's has, or could have ever reached. So if you want to stick around until I'm that old, I'll embarrass you then. >>
And then...
<< And why do you have to defend yourself so strongly? If you don't "give a fsck", then why waste so much time giving a fsck?
Most creatures only do that when they are backed into a corner. Or when there are points they cannot come up with a retort to. >>
Not to ignite flames or anything, but using personal insults to defend yourself, and then comment on people being overly defensive is kinda hypocritical...and has nothing to do with the topic of the post.
Ok, I'm done. Didn't mean to P.O. anyone if I did, it's just a message board anyways 🙂 😛
