Ugh. Want to throw computer.

I have this somewhat broken computer. Powerjack is fucked, right? So I replaced it today. (WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS) Now it won't work. Smells like that electrical circuits are doing bad things smell when it is plugged in. I looked at the soldering points extra carefully and they're not touching at all. There is at least a good millimeter of space between them... Still it won't turn on. I know the computer works otherwise.

Advice, yo?

Did you let the magic smoke escape?

No magic smoke yet. It doesn't wanna come out.

I'm annoyed as fuck with this thing though. I have a shit soldering iron and a shit solder sucker. (Learned that I need desoldering wire or whatever that shit is most likely. That's probably only way to get it really good)

ALSO somehow some shit got stripped or something... That or I magically need a few mm longer screws for this one thing.

ugh. fuck this laptop hard. It's garbage anyway. It's slow and me no like.

Let me guess you bought the new jack from some ebay seller in China for 3.50 and that included shipping.

Broken power supply?

Try going to the bare minimum. Remove the MoBo from the case, place it on some something like a wood table etc.

If I did it would shake off... I don't have anything conductive on thar. Maybe residue from soldering, idk?

take everything electrical out of the laptop case and reattach the pieces on some clean newspaper, attach the lcd, and see if it powers on.

Wait, are you trying to replace a laptop power jack with a soldering iron and a regular tip?

How messy did yo solder it back?
