Honestly though some people have no respect or courtesy for their neighbors at all and it is really sad.

I have no problem with loud music during reasonable hours, but my current neighbors who don't work (as compared to everyone else in the complex) play their stereo all the damn time with so much bass it shakes everything in our apartment, this is the first and hopefully last time I have to deal with this. We have complained to them directly next door to which they deny it is their system even though I can see it when they open the door or music is comming out of the door when they answer, management, the police and it has gotten us nowhere...if it wasn't for my wife not being a fan of violence I am certain I would have kicked both their teeth in by now.

Luckily we are moving out come october and they have been away for the past month so things have been normal, but in all of the apartments I have lived in this is the first that I have had to deal with bass, noise is commonplace and I don't have that much of a problem with it, but when it feels like the T rex scene in JP in my whole apartment then I get pretty pissed. I know when we move into our townhouse I will be getting a home theater system, probabily just a small bose am6 setup (bring it on bose haters:)) unless the smaller infinity and polk setups sound better but I am keeping in mind the amount of bass the system will put out and specifically looking at ones which are not stupidly powerful.

the chick above me at the last apartment i was living in would start 50 cents album every morning(eaxctly at 7am) for 6 months. also on sundays was 80's day and she put the white candy song on repeat.... there was also a couple months where everyday she'd listen to that one usher song on repeat.... REPEAT!! that bitch was crazy.

This solution might be too simple, but have you thought of asking him to keep it down a bit before "going to management"? Maybe he just got a new sound system and is excited to test it out, and has forgotten others might hear. You might be able to work things out without involveing anyone else.

Sending you a PM as this is off topic. Also with the sub comment loud is subjective, if you don't have a system which is capable of crazy bass then the temptation will never be there to use it.

Hah!

I guess when I was in class one of my roomates was just tired of it and went down to the management's office and told them about it. They could hear it from the office, it was that loud. Haven't heard it since...
