I like how i'm 21 years old and this is my 2nd time here. I wonder if I'll be like those people who get called every year. 🙁

Hey at least I get my $9!

It could be worse. My friend is on a Grand Jury for 3 months.

that'd be an experience...don't you get work pay + jury duty pay....at least at decent full time jobs you do.

All I have is my iPhone. I wasn't smart and didn't bring a book, nor am I capable of chatting up my fellow citizens like the 50 year old large man beside me.

Yes, she still gets paid by her employer and gets $50/day for the Jury Duty. Grand Jury is Monday thru Thursday, so she does go back to work on Fridays. She says the cases are interesting but very depressing/sad(ie. child rape).

At least you can have that. My dad just went about a month ago and was told that cell phones/electronics would be confiscated and not returned.

Is there a worse way to spend the day?

yes. spend it "hanging out" with your ex wife. at least you got to sit alone in a building and not really talk to anyone...

Check your states rules as most have rules that you are only allowed to be called every so often.

I know when I got called I was told to save the paperwork and they can;t call me for another 2 or 3 years. the Fed also has rules like that as well.

But I work for the Fed Gov so I get full pay for Jury Duty. 🙂

The best way to get out of jury duty is simply tell the judge you have a biased point of view, can't work well with others and are discrimatory. I remember serving jury a couple of years ago. Everybody was in the room initially. The attorneys picked people. The Judge asked "if anyone here believes they can't serve jury please come up and state your reasons". A couple of people came up. Actually quite a few. When the case finally finished and the judge came into the jury room to thank us.

One of the juriors asked why would of disqualified you or what reasons were valid. She stated if someone said to her, that they were discrimatory or biased she automatically removed them...

One easy way to get out of jury duty is to:

Wave or wink at the defendant like you know him. As soon at the opposing attorney sees this, they will have you removed from the Jury. They can't take a chance on have a friend on the jury. I always get out of jury duty this way.

So what is the trick to get out of jury duty I have it coming up March 16th and really do not want ot get
in case that I have no idea how long it would take

Me either. I don't think it would be such a bad thing, though. It would be interesting to see how the process works up close.
