Ugh... it's disgusting outside.

It's been 25+ C (80 F) for the past week and will continue for at least the next week. Humidity has been rising too. Tomorrow's 40C with humidity, omfg!

Muahahaha! Afternoon thunderstorms FTW!

😀

I miss summer thunderstorms.

This is the first place we've ever lived where we didn't get at least a couple of good "thunderboomers" every summer.

Of course, as a crane operator, I was never too fond of them...I had the cranes get hit twice...and that's spooky as hell.

It's 5:30 p.m. here and it is 101 outside with the heat index (temperature that your body felt) of 104.

I don't even want to know what my electricity bill will be. Yike.

<<<---loves almost everything about the South but the temperature in June/July/August.

Oh yeah, we are also about >20 inches short of rain for the last 18 months.

 for "bought air."

We were under a heat advisory where I was until this one hit. Although we do get a decent number of them here, I still miss living on the coast. You'd get one just about everyday on the coast at about 3pm. It was great.

People don't understand why I say that I love winter and hate summer. This kind of weather is not pleasant. It's easy to get warm when you are cold - much harder to get cool when you are warm.

The local weatherman just showed the temperature map on tv and TX, LA, AR, OK, MS all have 100 degree or higher. Birmingham AL was only 85, lucky bastard.

True. Except winter can actually cause things to fall off while summer usually just makes you sweat.

Heat advisory remains in effect from noon EDT /11 am CDT/
today to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening...

* event... heat index values will climb to between 102 and 109

95% humidity outside now, temperature rising 🙁

In Louisville we hit 99 degrees and heat index of 118.

The dew point was 82 degrees!

We had a heat warning. Not an advisory or watch, but actual warning. Don't think I've seen that before.

It's pretty nasty here in central IL. My g/f told me yesterday that the heat index was sitting at 115. As soon as I opened up the door, it felt like I opened up the oven while it was turned on. I couldn't believe it!

Same here in central Indiana. Going from my garage into my house felt like I had just entered Antarctica, and my house was holding at 77 degrees.

I dont guess you have ever heard of this thing called "summer"?

In july and august around here, its usually 90 degrees by 9am, and around 100 degrees between 12 and 2.

I have... but it's not usually 90+ with shittons of humidity first thing in the morning.

I honestly hope everyone keeps hydrated, and tries to stay out of this as much as possible. It really is sad to read the news of people whom die because of heat strokes or what-have-you.

Yes, you just about can't drink enough water to stay hydrated and need to take breaks if out in it. And if you stop sweating or are pale, get yourself to the emergency room/call 911 - you're in trouble.

Thanks for the tip on the warning signs! I wasn't for sure what to look for when experiencing a heat stroke. I have been fortunate enough not to have one, or if I did it was mild enough for me to push through it.

All the humidity made driving home late at night rather fun yesterday. My car is set to 70F, and eventually convection drove the windshield to similar temperatures, which caused the moisture in the air to stick to my windshield. Saying it was capable of obstructing my vision would be an understatement, and it certainly wasn't great on a country highway (with some nice turns) at night! 😛
