B)We did call the poison control line for giggles and they said pretty much the same thing.

D) The problems arise when you throw UP the diesel or gasoline because you are causing all kinds of issues with your lungs and throat at that point.

So yes I did get medical attention before I posted on ATOT Good grief.

i think its fair to jump on anyone who siphons diesel with their mouth. your a darwin award waiting to happen

Home Treatment
Ingestions of any hydrocarbon require immediate medical attention. Give water to dilute. DO NOT INDUCE EMESIS (VOMITING)!
Hmm.. So I guess if I ever swallow some diesel, I shouldn't just throw it up then?

I wonder why.

Because if it burns on the way down, it will burn again on the way up. Your stomach is pretty good at holding dangerous liquids (I mean, it holds acid), but your esophagus isn't quite as sturdy.
I guess....

I still probably would've thrown it up out of instinct. Maybe drink a glass of water first to help or something.

Unless it burned like all hell going down, I'd rather have the toxic substance outside of my body, thankyouverymuch.

It's and you're. Sticks and stones and so on. Like I said above I don't normally do this crap that is what we pay the mechanic for :) Thank you for all the information you provided.

I think they say to not induce vomiting so you don't aspirate it into your lungs, which would be worse than just passing it through I would guess. Still, I'd probably do like you and throw up right away as a natural reaction.

My advice:

Chase it with some octane booster so you don't have pre-ignition. Also, avoid any open flame near your a$$ for a few days....yes..that means no lighting farts.

On the other hand though, lighting diesel-laden farts would be really, really cool. :D

Next time... bring a hand pump.

I know it's not manly to use nitrile gloves and use lotion as a mechanic, but from all the old-timers out there... they have noticed that the guys that do the wussy stuff have nice clean looking hands and are dry and cracking all the time. Heck, even though most of the guys don't use safety glasses when grinding or using the torch, damn straight I do... more than a few times do I hear of people complaining about getting something in their eyes.

Very first day I got a faceful of motor oil from a touchy lube gun. My friend and a master tech got a blast of tranny fluid when the flush machine decided to pretty much explode on them. I'm also a bit paranoid around electrical stuff... especially when I've actually gotten shocked before. I make sure that if it does arc across me that it won't go across my heart. It's still painful as hell though. I'd rather be safe if I know the chances of screwing up are pretty high.

:music:
Oh, on I burn
Fuel is pumping engines
Burning hard, loose and clean

On I burn
Churning my direction
Quench my thirst with gasoline
:music:

Gasoline tastes better, give it a try next time.

I guess I should tell you all why I was doing this. Someone decided to put diesel fuel into a container labeled gasoline. Then one of my co-workers poured it into a machine but noticed the smell of diesel. Thankfully the engine was never started and I siphoned the diesel out (after my incident above).

My friend filled up the 60 gallon gas tank in my RV with diesel in last January.
To reward him, I put him in charge of pumping it out. He did exactly what you did, and said he was burping diesel for 2 days. Gave us a good laugh though, and now he has a new nickname - "T. Diesel"

Just googled to find this forum due to swallowing a mouthful of diesel. Found that a Ltr of Cabernet Sauvignon made me have 3 small froth spews that tastes to be straight diesel. Haven’t diesel burped since. Hope it helps someone. Dale from Australia. Lol

That's an .. unconventional way of dealing with it.

Props for experimentation that involved alcohol. I hope it wasn't a quality Cab!
