Machida/Evans - the fight that Dana did not want Machida to win. Boring, hard to market fighter as the champ? You could say that about Evans too...he isn't as marketable as a Rampage, Chuck, Tito, even a Forrest. It was impressive how Machida won...I saw his last fight and like others said - he picks his spots and he's damn good at it too. The problem with the LHW division is that everyone wants to stand up, trade and bang. Is it more impressive/fun to watch? Hell yea. But it always plays into one guy's strengths. I guess it's the other guy's problem then, but still.

Boring and hard to market? Everyone I watched the fight with was very impressed with Machida, and are looking forward to his next bout.

Personally, I think it's awesome to see some someone winning with karate skills in the UFC. This is supposed to be mixed martial arts, but lately it's seemed like it's BJJ or GTFO...

Machida is a black belt in BJJ, so he's got that one covered too =)

True, and I still want to see his ground game, but I love that he won on his feet.

I guess it'll be Rampage vs Machida next.

Dana White talking about Machida

But yeah this fight was ridiculous. I could not believe mine eyes. We were going crazy when he won :Q The Machida Era has begun lol

Hmm... the machida fight was kind of boring up until he landed that one punch and then it was basically going through the motions until evans crumbled. Counterpunchers are so boring

finally got to watch it (had it on DVR).

first off i think Serra got robbed. while it was a great fight and Hughes was amazing to come back from the first round i didnt think he did enough to get the win. also if you watch hughes face as they announce it you can tell even he was suprised that he won.

the machida fight? first round sucked. but holy hell what a ending! i have disliked Evens and enjoyed him getting his ass kicked. I found it funny that after Machida put Evens on his ass twice Evans was still getting up and trying to dance/showboat. yeah not a good idea when you are getting beat.

i have no idea who would be a good match for machida. I would like to see rampage (not going to happen) or Forrest go against him.

Guess Machida's karate background throws everyone in a loop as to what striking sport is best for MMA... used to be muy thai and western boxing.

interesting i hadent seen that. that should make for a darn good fight.

they've had karate guys in mma before. In Pride mostly. They usually/always get the snot knocked out of them, that's why there aren't more of them.

Machida has a nice blend of karate/bjj, and an overall unorthodox fighting style that works very well for him. I'd love to see rampage kock him out of the cage, just for something different. 😀.

Rampage was supposed to fight Evans last night but either he was injured from the last fight or he didn't have enough time to train so he didn't take it.

I'm pretty certain he was already planned to fight the winner of these two. I suppose that could change because Machida might bring a different ufc marketing strategy, but I'm guessing it will be rampage/machida in about 2-3 months or so.

yeah i knew he was sopposed to fight evans (that would beena great fight). didnt see where Rampage was going to fight the winner. but after ocean mentioned it i looked on sherdog and seen it.

that will be a good also. im really impressed with machida. he does not have amazing power but he is fast and those kicks come out of nowhere. then hits you with 5-6 shots to the head and down they go.
