that was amazing. i've never seen a fighter that comes close to fighting like a karate character in a movie.

wow. that was an amazng fight.

I think Rampage is up next. I don't know how he's going to fare vs. Machida. Rampage hits hard....but he isn't going to have anything to swing at but air....

Joe Rogen is wrong again. How the hell can he be so unsure while the poll is so lopsided. Its not hard to see that Rashad was winning against 1 dimensional slug fist fighters and that he wouldn't have an answer for Machida. On the otherhand Machida has probably fought people who counter attack whether it be MMA or Karate so he has an experience advantage over Rashad.

Besides Machida's wins are usually very clean with high accuracy and low damage to himself.

Man, thoroughly impressed by Machida, just an awesome display of skill. It's really fun to see someone as unique as him holding a UFC belt.

I thought it would be more even because his style seemed to be a good matchup with Machida's. But Evans seemed content to stand with him.

link to evans/machida fight?

edit: link

Woah...Machida was the aggressor this time and was still untouchable. :Q Had to look at the replay a few times to see exactly what knocked evans out each time, he's so freakin quick. 😕

Rampage doesn't stand a chance against Machida imo - Jackson's aggressiveness will play into Machida's strengths. Machida leans back and creates a huge 'neutral zone'...and anyone that enters it seems to get 'neutralized' pretty quickly.

he must be pretty godamn smart to be using that type of strategy heh, working out and still undefeated..

That 'neutral zone" is something unseen in MMA today and he uses it to the fullest extent. Not only is he able to keep about 5-6 feet of distance, he is also able to throw kicks from either leg, flatfooted. No telegraphing his kicks at all. What's also impressive is his ability to follow up with a punch while in mid-kick. He did that numerous times during this fight and Evans had no way of defending it. Rashad wanted inside so badly, but Machida would have none of it.

Also, it cannot be overlooked that Machida is a lefty. Not only does this give most guys fits, his unorthodox style completely confuses his opponent on top of it.

So we were all at the bar watching this...wow.

Sherk/Edgar - do disappointed Frankie won. Not a big fan of the dood, and I like Sherk as a fighter. I think that's going to expose Sherk...he just takes those powerful but overall short punches at you.

Hughes/Serra - finally! Glad Hughes won. Seems like the hatred was as usual, played up UFC style. Good to see they were professional after the fight and shook hands. Serra is an ass when he wins but at least he's a gracious loser. (Same when he lost to GSP)

Machida/Evans - the fight that Dana did not want Machida to win. Boring, hard to market fighter as the champ? You could say that about Evans too...he isn't as marketable as a Rampage, Chuck, Tito, even a Forrest. It was impressive how Machida won...I saw his last fight and like others said - he picks his spots and he's damn good at it too. The problem with the LHW division is that everyone wants to stand up, trade and bang. Is it more impressive/fun to watch? Hell yea. But it always plays into one guy's strengths. I guess it's the other guy's problem then, but still.

I guess it'll be Rampage vs Machida next.

I'd like to see him against an awesome ground/pound wrestler who can quickly get him down. But I don't know there either, Machida's a lot stronger than people might think on the ground. Evans had a couple chance to grapple him, but Machida defended perfectly and tossed evans around.

After Machida hit evans in the second round, he literally nailed Evans with about 25 punches to zero in return for evans before the final knockout blow. He's has the style of a chessmaster but becomes a pitbull when attacking. Evans is an awesome all around fighter too who was completely outmatched.

Machida may not be as marketable as some other LHW's, but he's got the most popular division to go against so generating revenues and enthusiasm for matches isn't going to be problem.

I know he fought Ortiz past his prime, but Tito's still an great G&P fighter, and Machida defended the takedown extremely well. In fact, the first take down of the fight was by Machida.
