Pretty much said that Cain did the wrong thing; should have gone for the shot/takedown. There was definitely anger in his voice.

Bendo vs Guida was so amazing. It's fights like that, that make me wish they'd just fight until someone is done because those guys probably could have gone on for another 10 rounds.

Cain looked in horrible shape and he attempted one half-assed take down. He deserved to get his head knocked off for fighting the same way he did against Kongo. What's really funny is the fact Roy Nelson has put up the most impressive fight against JDS. That's the hilarious shit going on in the HW division. Hell I think Josh Barnett comes over and takes the belt with ease at the moment.

A one minute fight is not exactly what they were looking for to introduce the sport. Waste of my time and I love these fights, the entire show sucked. Dana was not happy with what's his face co-hosting with him.

No heavyweight in the UFC has kept there belt for more than 1 or 2 title defenses - they all lose. When you consider how well Roy Nelson did against JDS it becomes laughable.

Fedor in his prime would have run through this current crop of HeavyWeights with ease. One of the Strikeforce Heavy's should be able to run the table.

lol everyone thinking the crop of heavyweights are shitty. when in fact they are all great. When you have 250 lb (muscle and not fat) guys who can wrestle and are great strikers what the fuck do you expect? they all hit fucking hard and it does not take a big shot to knock someone out if you ht the right place.

it's a crap shoot when you have guys this good and that strong.

one of strikefroce's heavy's should be able to run the table? lol fuck no. not at all. I would love to see Antonio Silva in the ufc. only other one is josh barnett. but to be honest i don't see him beating carwin, JDS, lesnar or hell even big country. but hell he would be a exciting addition if nothing else for his antics.

I watched all 64 seconds of that fight...but is there any way to watch the undercard fights that were broadcast online? I was at a house party and almost missed the main fight too. 😛

the bendo vs guida fight was great. Fox should have added it to the card on TV. That fight would have gotten more fans then the short main event.

Cain looked like he was sick. just didn't look himself in the ring.

With Roy nelson being one of the few to take JDS's punches you need to add him to the miss. personally i think him and the winner of the brock/reem fight need to go for it for a chance at the tittle.

I think the heavyweight is now stacked with fucking talent. i find it great hell the top 10 are all so fucking matched it leads to some great fights.

hell of a lot better when you had someone like Randy comeing in and cleaning up heavyweights and takeing it from Tim sylvia and such.

I thought the same thing. He sounded pissed. That was not a fight that's going to get people interested...

He was even more pissed in the post-fight press conference. I think he knew that they blew it by showing 40 minutes of crap filler and then only the title fight. The BEN Henderson/Guida fight was great. In hindsight, they easily could have showed that, too.

Now, I know you'll say that they couldn't guarantee that both fights would air in the time allotted, but they obviously were on a significant tape delay. They didn't START the potentially 29 minute title fight (5 x 5:00 + 1:00 between rounds) until 8:40. That puts the tape delay at a bare minimum of 10 minutes (and probably more). Take out 20 of the 40 minutes of pre-filler...boom. You have your potential FOTY seen by millions. I don't know, maybe Fox didn't want to take the "risk", but Dana was upset at the lost opportunity.

Here's what he said about people complaining about not showing the Henderson/Guida fight:

"For anybody to bitch about this fight and how they didn't get to see that fight -- shut up. You should have bought tickets if you wanted to see all the fights and you don't like to watch it on Facebook. Seriously, shut up. I don't even want to hear it."

I actually yelled at Dana when he said that...he knows they missed a golden opportunity and is pissed about it...

...and that brings me to the elephant in the room. Why else was Dana pissed? Why did he berate both the former and current heavyweight champs? Simple: he lost the opportunity to appeal to the Hispanic audience. Dana was salivating at having a Mexican champion and he wanted, no yearned, for Cain to dominate and for all of the Mexican people to love the UFC because of "Brown Pride" Velasquez.

All you had to do was listen to the "Boooos" that Dos Santos got before, during, and after the fight to understand that this fight was about more than a title; it was about race and $$$. Yes, Junior Dos Santos, one of the most likable and humble fighters, got "Booooed" because he wasn't Mexican. Brazil already loves MMA; Dos Santos won't bring many new fans/markets to the UFC. But, Velasquez could capture the hearts and minds (and wallets) of millions of Mexicans. That was really what this fight was about. Showcasing a Mexican (and openly proud) fighter in order to capture a new market.

That's why Dana was pissed. And if there's one thing Dana is not used to, it's having to hide his emotions. He's the top dog of an organization that has up until now had the freedom and ability to do what they want. Now that they're partnered with Fox, Dana is going to have to control himself and he's not used to that.

That's why he trashed Cain and Dos Santos. Dana was not neutral; he clearly was rooting for Cain Velasquez. He was angry at the lost opportunity to grow the UFC by appealing to "Brown Pride". Cain was supposed to win. He didn't. Dana was not happy with that.

Go ahead, call me a racist. Fine. But it's true. Even sportswriters recognized what this fight was.

"The show was hoped to be Velasquez’s coming-out party before a network TV audience in an attempt to establish him as a superstar to the Latin American community."

Dana saw the Mexican dollars draining from the UFC's coffers and lashed out at the former champion by accusing him of not using the correct game plan (Shoot and takedowns early to gas Dos Santos). He also attacked the current champions by accusing Dos Santos of gassing and not having the cardio to go 5 rounds.

Dana is used to getting what he wants; when he doesn't, he does press conferences like we saw.

That's my take. Feel free to disagree...

Bendo vs Guida was also shown on fox as the prelim to the cain/jds fight?

The Pac Man fight on PPV went the full length, gave people their money's worth. The MMA title fight went for 64 seconds. What a joke.

LOL....I'll feed the troll.

The Pacquiao fight was $49.99 and was a close, majority decision.
The Dos Santos fight was free and had a clear and decisive winner.

I'll admit the UFC on Fox show had it's problems, but you can't beat the price! 😉

"HE LITERALLY HAS NO WEAKNESSES!!" How many times did Rogan say that? As long as you don't count "no chin" as a weakness, he's exactly right.

What a shame they didn't get the Guida-Bendo fight on Fox too.

After 30 minutes of talk and commercials, one 64 second fight where Dana's golden boy and Mexican cash machine gets KTFO...yeah not that great for the brand. I loved it though. 🙂

Cain got taken down by a shot to the temple. Either way, it's hard to imagine any HW that will still be standing after eating an overhand right like that.

That's an understatement. They chose Southern California, a night where Marquez was fighting where all Mexicans pretty much love boxing.

I miss the old UFC from the 90s.

Its was as entertaining as monkey's fighting with broken bottles in international waters back then. Now...its really overhyped(I do not condone monkey's fighting in international waters, with or without broken bottles).

lol yes while thats funny its also great! why ?

that's joe son getting his balls busted in. pity hackney didn't kill him. Oh also hackney has one of the fights against the largest guy in MMA.

for those that don't know joe son is:
"Son pleaded guilty to felony vandalism in 2008 and was placed on probation. As a condition of his plea agreement, Son was required to provide a DNA sample. In 2008, the DNA sample was linked to a 1990 gang rape. Already in custody for a probation violation, Son was arrested at the Theo Lacy facility on October 7, 2008.[5]
In October 2008, Son was charged by California authorities in relation to his participation in a 1990 gang rape. He was initially charged in Orange County, California, with five counts of rape, two felony counts of forcible sodomy, two felony counts of sodomy in concert by force, seven felony counts of forcible oral copulation, and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force. He faced a maximum sentence of 275 years to life if convicted.[2][6][7]
Son and an accomplice tortured and repeatedly raped the victim before releasing her with her underwear tied around her eyes. During the trial the woman, now aged 41, said Son told her: 'It's Christmas. This is your lucky day.'
Before jury selection began for his trial in early August 2011, the initial charges against Son were dropped having expired due to the statute of limitations. Son was then charged with conspiracy to commit torture and murder, crimes which have no statute of limitations.[8] In late August, Son was found guilty of one felony count of torture.
During the trial, the Orange County District Attorney's Office maintained that both Son and his co-defendant, Santiago Lopez Gaitan, pistol-whipped their female victim, threatened to kill her repeatedly, and raped her before finally releasing her. His co-defendant in the case Santiago Gaitan, 40, pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping and other charges, and was sentenced to 17 years and four months in prison.[9] In September 2011, Son was sentenced to life in prison. In October 2011, Son was accused of killing his cellmate, a convicted sex offender.[10][11]"

Couple of things to note, not sure if they had been said yet:

It is a GOOD thing it went quick. It would have been a shitty fight the longer it went, both fighters were injured. JDS had a torn meniscus (sp?) 11 days prior, Cain sprained his knee a week prior. Both decided to hide it and fight on. The longer that fight went, the sloppier they would have both looked I think, especially if they couldnt really train the prior two weeks.

As for Dana, I know why he wanted Cain to win, he is a money maker. But, I think it was real shitty to basically sit up there and trash your new champion by saying Cain shouldve been able to beat him easily with wrestling and that JDS has no cardio. I'm 99% of the time a Dana fan, but that came off real dickish and made the former champ and new champ sound like shit.

The Henderson/Guida fight was an awesome fight btw, I think Henderson gives Edgar some serious problems.

The UFC still puts on plenty of entertaining fights. The issue is that you can't bet on any particular fight being entertaining (especially with heavy weights). Dana and Fox made a big bet by only putting the title fight on and it backfired.

I had my money on JDS. Cain is a very good fighter, but I think Brock took him too litely. I can't wait for Brock vs Overeem, and then the winner facing JDS.

I think Dana White was a little emotional because of the television contract, and his fear that it didn't deliver for the tv audiences and bode well for future contracts. Ratings were excellent tho. Even given it was disappointing for viewers, I'd expect to see more of these on fox, perhaps 2 in an hour's timeframe next time.
