It's not like in the movies... I think fancy kicks and roundhouses would leave way too many openings. Wrestler-oriented fighters can just close in with a tackle and deploy submissive moves which is what typical martial artists have no experience to deal with.

Even if the artists try to keep their distance, it'd probably be futile. What's he gonna do when someone throws himself at you for close range? Fighters can even take a hit or two as punishment then go in for the kill...

Just an observation. What I mean by martial artists = taekwondo, karate, kung fu, jujitsu, hapkido and even kick boxing.

Oh, so you're fully trained in all those styles?
Or not, it's nice that you've managed to come to such a grand conclusion of selflessly sitting your ass in front of a tv all day. Dumbass.

I'm *sure* when you included "karate, Kungfu, Juijitsu", you were fully aware of (of course, you've trained in all of them to the master level - even the thousands of styles within "kung fu"!) that there's multiple styles within each category as well. And why was Juijitsu mentioned there? BJJ anyone? Brazilian Jujitsu?

no sh|t, nuke makes guns obsolete, wtf is your point?

his point is, what good are roundhouse kicks or submission moves going to do if the person attacking you just shoots you in the face.

Who pissed in your cereal this morning? I said it is just my observation, why do you think I started the thread for? It's meant for a discussion. No need to get your PMS rolling.

Captain Obvious to the rescue~!

Of course in the real world, any pvssy with a gun can kill. I'm talking about arena fighting in with both parties with equal setting.

But can you get close enough to put the move on before you get your face beaten in w/ 1 hit?

Oh, someone did piss in your cereal alright. I made a simple observation of what *I* think since I don't see any martial artists defeating UFC fighters. I didn't make a conclusive statement saying "it is a universal fact that UFC is better than Martial Arts"

Read my topic title, sub-topic title and the content itself again. And remove that stick up your ass.

Get off your offended high horse, almost everything jEct2 is actually right. My old buddy was a wrestler in college and now coaches our Navy league... a hardcore wrestler / brawler is going to whip the crap out of most 'martial artists'. And this isn't someone's opinion - its been documented through videos and articles in all kinds of wrestling and even martial arts magazines. Only martial artists who are well-trained against wrestling tactics are going to be able to stand up against a well-trained wrestler/brawler. Reaction time makes fighting lethal or not lethal and I hear tell that wrestlers learn and are taught to have quick reaction time to make a quick pin - this all can be modified into street brawling. Read some books and articles sometime like the original poster did before you open your yap.

The most effective method of fighting without weapons is a mixture of grappling and striking blows.

Nevermind the fact that you have no basis nor any experience on the subject, included contradictory examples in your logic, and is concluded from a singular competition-based sport that's filled with rules to begin with.

If you were curious about something and knew that you didn't have any clue about the topic, you'd ask a question. But instead, you so gracefully proposed such a half-assed assnine comment that just about spit at the face of thousands of people simultaneously.

Ever hear of PRIDE? K-1? Hell, wen was the last time you got into a fight? If you're talking about "equal ground", could you take punishment like that and keep on going in?

Yeah, I'm just being anal. Right.

lemme guess, you probably take taekwondo/kungfu/kickboxing and are highly offended.

I'm sorry :) Take it easy buddy. Your face is so red with heat, you can't even comprehend what I'm typing anymore. When did I ever claim I was good at these? And just how good are you with it?

Just because you took TKD in elementary school and won some trophies in american dojo doesn't make you a tough sh|t

In UFC, where there aren't very strict rules in fighting style, the grapplers almost ALWAYS beat the martial artists. Can't do any moves when the guy has you pinned to the ground.

I agree a Wrestler would beat the sh!t out of a person trained in the martial arts. I wrestled in high school and I know that the techniques and moves I was taught would make a Kung Fu master cry like a little b!tch. The only martial art that might be equal with Greco Roman or Freestyle wrestling is Judo. It?s not all about strength (it helps) but it?s about technique and pain compliance.

And a martial artist with extensive training in grappling and countering grappling would beat the sh!t out of a plain old wrestler.

What's your point?
