Awesome. Awesome to the MAX.

(I'm saying that as 80's guy from Futurama, not being sarcastic.)

You obviously did not read the back story of him cutting in line, cutting other students off, and causing a disturbance during the event. Why bother commenting on something before you at least superficially glance over the facts. Your style of argument is the equivalent of what my 3rd grade cousin uses. You may want to think about that.

He cut in line, that is something your 3rd grade cousin would whine about.

Feel free to respond to my post as well. :)

respond to what, you never made an argument.

he owned you.

Actually, I think it was the resisting arrest thing that got him tased.

Speaking your mind while disturbing order and peace = Grounds to get pushed out.

Resisting the order to get out= grounds for arrest

Resisting arrest = grounds to get subdued = Tasered.

Minor adjustments.

Are you questioning if the University police, acting on behalf of the University, had the right to have a person removed from one of their events/buildings?

I wouldn't say that was their 'right', it would be a job. I don't think you understand the situation though saying that.

With a quote like your signature, one would think you'd have more of a backbone than just being the good little boy and listen to authority and not question it.

IMHO one should have been able to ask Kerry what they wanted and if KERRY had a problem with the time or question let HIM decide.

The guy was not being threatening yet even people here seem to think someone could have gotten hurt.

Also to other's him using Bro is hardly discrediting. He is a college student and that is a popular slang term now. I have heard highly paid CEO's use 'man' and 'cool' and other terms from their day. People seem to think only the bookworm/nerd is credit worthy, but in reality it's usually them working for the other.

Sorry for the late response but I must have missed it until it popped back up on the front page.

Its not about questioning authority. The campus police decided he was being disruptive and its their job/duty to keep order and prevent disruptions. We can debate if they made the right decision in telling him to leave but that wasn't my point.

Kerry was a guest there, nothing more. Just because the event was focused on him does not mean he decides how,why or when someone is deemed a threat, disruption, etc... Just like a rock band doesn't decide if a fan is getting to rowdy. The security guards, who are tasked with that job, make that decision.

In my opinion, it was the kids intent to disrupt the event which I don't really have a problem with. It is his actions afterwords that I have a problem with. When he was told to leave he became increasingly more disruptive. I don't have a problem with that either but you better be prepared to pay the consequences for your actions, regardless if they where "right or wrong" to initially ask him to leave. Its the resisting arrest part that makes me not give a damn that he got tased. When it gets to the point that they are arresting you then it is reasonable to expect any action other than following orders to be met with force.

Given what I saw, I don't believe that unreasonable force was used. The kid was acting paranoid and when he started resisting arrest he became a threat to himself, the cops and the people around him. Its not exactly easy to put cuffs on someone who doesn't want to be cuffed (at least after he was lying on his stomach) without hurting him and risking injury to the officers. He was told of the consequences to his actions and he acknowledged the consequences he would pay for continued resistance. He made the choice to continue to resist even though he knew he would be tased for it. Before tasers they would probably have used billy clubs.

Yah, right. You'd all be calling for the despot of any third world country to be deposed ASAP if it wasn't in the US.
