Yeah, you got me last night. The 800 seemed to help a little but not enough. Oh well, now I just have to score 3/4 of a million points to get in the top 20. That can't be too hard. :)

CyGoR:

I'm running Seti and UD both at 50% CPU. This way I don't feel bad by not doing Seti, and I don't feel bad by not contributing to UD ;)

BornStar:

750k isn't too many points. You must be producing about 3000-3500 per day now, right? You've only got 100k to go, so about a month or so and you'll be in the top 20!

---

As for my production, I've put my P-M 1.5/768 mb ram laptop onto Seti for a bit. Since it's XP I can't set it up to do 50/50 like my linux box, so it's full out Seti for now.

I've actually got quite the Seti farm up and going now, too!

Duron 1400/385 mb
Duron 800/256 mb
PM 1500/768 mb
Half Athlon XP 2700+/640 mb

The Duron 1400 and 800 are permanent, as they're running CLI linux and I can't get UD running on them.

I'd estimate my average daily points for UD is down by about 1000 points per day right now. I should be on target for the top 20 on Feb 13th as I predicted... we'll see. I may decide on Thursday night to put everything back into UD for a day ;)

It's going to be close between BornStar and I for a while!

why aren't you going all out for either one? really our UD team is lacking, the only reason we are in #16 was b/c of mheroux. He has more points than the next 6 contributers. Thus, we need your dedicated crunching. :)

Kenazo, the second Seti has ended, all my power will be switched back to UD, and I think Kloostec does the same thing :)
And, maybe we can get some more members from the seti team into the UD team! Still thinking about that one, maybe we
should write some piece of text to recruit them...
I know that mheroux brought us this far, and were going to take us even further, I'm sure of that.. But for the next, say a few months
tops, the Seti team is in need for some help...
I'm also participating in D2OL, but that's just because there is no UD client for Linux or Mac.... (running at school, no vmware)

Yeah, I'm in the exact same position as CyGoR is. I'm helping out the Seti team because they've asked for help (20 WUs per day isn't all that much, but it's help nonetheless). Once Seti is over, all of my machines that can run windows will be changed back over to UD. I haven't figured out what the two duron linux boxes will run (I'll have to check out the recruitment threads ;) ).

BornStar: If you find one more decent machine you'll probably catch up to me in production. It's not out of reach!

Welcome to the team vichung420!! Glad you decided to help us! :)
Doesn't matter if it's one or 10 systems someone brings! As soon as
you, like us, get addicted, you'll assimilate all the systems you can touch! :p

Is there any way to allow my computer to download multiple WU's? I am on dialup, I dont mind leaving my computer on, but I WONT let it dialout automatically. Is there any way that I can download several days worth of work, and let it crunch away and send those in all at once. The thing that always slows me down is that I dont always have my computer connected, it is usually on, but not always connected. So I am only sometimes crunching while it is turned on.

There's a program that will let you do that but unfortunately I don't remember what it is. There are other people here who run it. Good to have you on board.

Welcome vichung420!
I have been using UDMonitor on all my boxes. Works pretty good, too bad you can't centralize you cache like with setiQ.

Here's a direct link to the authors website: http://udmon.sourceforge.net/

Actually looks like I need to upgrade my copies. He fixed the only gripe I really have. Send and receive wouldn't send the oldest WU if one failed to connect!

remember caching I believe that 2 weeks is the amount of time you have to turn them in before they are considered stale. I try to download about 3 days work at a time.

<edit> sorry forgot to mention for each slot in you que you need to give a unique device name, ie Barton1, Barton2 etc......

That's the reason why I've got 24 devices and only ran the computer on 4 or 5 machines :)
(Just a few at the moment)

UDmon is perfect for caching wu's! It also advices about the cpu time lost when restarting so
you can wait for the right time to restart if necessary..

Well, you buying a new VGA could help me out! :D
I received my new 9600XT a few weeks ago, and did spend some time gaming.. That's why you are catching up :p

I do have a few results in my UDmon queue (at least 3K points :))

I'm experimenting with moving my laptop over to linux (Gentoo!). The only reasons it wasn't running linux before were: I couldn't get battery status, and I couldn't reboot without shutting down first. Now that I've managed to solve those problems (I'm a kernel hacker now!), there's no reason for me not to run it.

If that happens, I don't know if I'll be running UD on it (the whole vmware issue... I'm trying to keep my laptop legit!). I don't think it can detect when I'm running off of battery when it's stuck inside vmware, either, which would make docking/undocking a bit of a hassle.

I think what I'll probably end up doing is moving my laptop to fulltime seti, and moving my desktop back to fulltime UD. That way I'm not actually changing the amount of processing time allocated to each project (the laptop is essentially as fast as the desktop is!). It'll still be a pain when I undock though... I suppose it would be pretty easy to write a script that checks the battery status and starts or stops seti accordingly...

:) you're going down. I should be #33 in two days, Unless you push your performance way up, looks like I'll be catching you maybe in April. So you have a while to breathe. ;)
