I've used Windows, and various browsers. It's for sure Ubuntu.
I can only go to certain websites. Pinging google.com every single line says destination port unreachable
DNS Servers: there are two of them
Search Domain: Is my resolved IP
Google.com doesn't work
woot.com doesn't work
hotmail.com doesn't work
msn.com doesn't work
Is there something those websites have in common that could help this issue?
Anyone have a clue? I'm beginning to dislike Ubuntu because of this, I've check there forums and everyone is puzzled.
This may help: before it crapped out on me, There was an update. BackEnd Port or BackPort End or something like that and looking through the internet settings, errors popped up saying something about the BackPort or whatever. While looking through the settings, there was a small expand arrow that I clicked and it said BackEndPort or something like that. Also, another thing is that when I look at "search domains" there is an extra period at the end instead of having only 3.
***Using Hardy 8.04***
It's not because it's a beta either, because it was working fine before the BackEnd Port, BackPortEnd update
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 x-desktop
# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
search hsd1.tn.comcast.net.
nameserver 68.X.68.X I placed the X's in there (duh)
nameserver 68.X.74.X
hsd1.tn.comcast.net. <--- Extra period at the end (why is that?)
** Well, if no one knows then do you think I can keep my current desktop customizations and use the LiveCD to reinstall and attempt a fix?
***EDIT***
Facebook is telling me I have Java disabled..... I've triple checked and know for sure it's enabled. The same Java was working before the internet f*** up
This internet issue is also causing a Java problem... wth?
****EDIT****
When I use SUDO to install things it will say unable to resolve host: MXXXX-desktop
The host just used to be: MXXXX
Anyone!?
Thanks
