I ran 8.04 under vmware in XP. I upgrade 8.04 to 8.10 and it seemed to screw up my vmware stuff. Now I can't move my mouse in and out of the vmware guest window without using the hotkeys.
On my laptops, 8.10 updated fine and runs fine. I changed the default wallpaper though.. A bit creepy for my taste.
The seamless mouse transitions are handled by VMWare Tools installed in the guest OS. Try and reinstall those and see if it's fixes your problem.
I've tried that route too. Unfortunately VMtools 1.07 can't compile (as part of the config step through install.sh).. and when I skip the compiling part (to compile specific for distro), everything works but I have to start up vmtoolbox myself to get access to the features.
Even on a new install of 8.10, vmtools won't compile and the features don't autostart as it did in 8.04.
I just settled and had gnome autostart it, but I would prefer not to see the vmtoolbox application, which never showed up before. Minor issue I can live with for now.
