Ublock Origin being blocked/disabled in Chrome June 2024.

Really frustrating. I had to switch to Firefox on my new Pixel 8 because adguard wasn't working on Chrome. Now this affecting desktop.

Not a big deal for myself since I use FF, but for informational purposes. I read there is Ublock Lite which will work but less effective.

Ublock isn't blocked. From your link:
The developers of uBlock Origin also created a version of the software that's designed to work with Manifest V3. So the ad blocker won't be dead on Chrome. Called uBlock Origin Lite, the extension has so far received positive reviews.

I just switched both my desktop and phone to Firefox as default versus Chrome for the first time In over a decade. I thought it was going to be annoying but it's actually quite seamless. Just go for it

I can't imagine browsing the internet without ad block.

Honestly a nice layer of extra security too.

Unlock Lite hopefully isn't too inferior.

According to the UBO FAQ a bunch of capabilities can't be ported to the lite version, so it's probably reasonable to assume that the lite version isn't as good.

Is this a wise thing to do for a company that is facing multiple cases around the world for anti-competitive practices?

I'm pretty sure that even in the EU the idea of ad blocking not working so well any more is going to result in the EU posing with the world's smallest violin.
