It wasn't Iraqi POW's. It was Iraqi looters. The looters that people have been clamoring about the US not doing enough to stop.
The punishment of a looter should be more humiliating than the punishment of a hostile invader?
The Geneva Convention states: "Protected persons are entitled to respect.
"They shall at all times be humanely treated, and shall be protected against insults."
But then I'd want better and bigger PICS.Originally posted by: CaptnKirk
Would have been a lot more interesting if they had paraded around some naked Dixie Chicks.
LOL, that is funny in so many ways.Originally posted by: CaptnKirk
It never ceases to amaze me that millions and millions of dollars has been spent on the technology that
allowed Al Gore to invent the Internet, just so we can sit around and bitch at each other in cyberspace.

You've agreed with me before, but it was on hardware issues, not politics.

Looks pretty "insulting" to me. Maybe the US officer who ordered this likes to look at naked boys . . .

What a display of intelligence. Everyone jumps on al-Jazeera for displaying images of well-treated POW's, but at the same time, you advocate "cutting off" the hands of Iraqi prisoners and "parading them naked thru the streets"
Heh
"""well-treated POW's"""
Which POW's are you speaking of?
The ones that were lying dead on the floor that looked to have been shot in their heads, of the one's forced to speak to cameras and microphones?

Would you prefer the Hussein way? Raping them, cutting off their head and leaving it on the door step of their families....
don't know about you, but I'd rather streak and retain all of my anatomy any day.

Anyway, I was speaking of the ones being "forced to speak to cameras and microphones." I just can't understand how you seem to be so irked by this but the parading of naked Iraqis through the streets is perfectly acceptable.

That's naked Iraqi LOOTERS. The ones with no shame or morals that are taking advantage of the situation to loot and steal from other Iraqis.

Well if you can condense their entire life into a few words ("no shame or morals") then what use do we have for them? May as well kill them on the spot.

konichiwa, that was all that your reply deserved. If you need it explained than so be it.
The people that were humiliated were looters. They were stealing from the other Iraqis. Perhaps you think they have high honor and morals, I don't. The public humiliation is a tactic that will slow down the looting. Is it a perfect method? Probably not, but the chances are good that it will be effective given the culture of the region.
Would you care to give alternatives to the option being tried? If not, you are just whining.

Believe it or not, criminals have rights too. Just because you may believe that one mistake can represent the entirety of ones' character (I certainly hope not, I've made some pretty grave mistakes myself) doesn't mean that they should be punished as if it does. To categorically dehumanize them just because they're looters is ludicrous. Ever heard of jail, or a fine?
