Just because you're sick of it doesn't make it any less valid today.

Oh, and in case you never saw Back To The Future, the events of the past have a funny way of changing the present.

No, but i know of a couple knuckleheads who joined up that i could very well see perpetrate a crime like this, if put in a similar situation.

So what's to say they wouldn't do it outside of the military? Wait, that would require the use of logic.

Answer my question, do you honestly believe that there is any force in the world that could invade us and take away our freedom of speech or whatever the hell it is you're arguing?

right now? no but i thank the brave men and women who are willing to join the milatary for that.

BUT other nations are gaining on us. while they may not be able to sucessfuly invade the US they can make it a nasty war.
So what's to say they wouldn't do it outside of the military? Wait, that would require the use of logic.

Because they wouldn't receive the training to be aggressive and wouldn't be put in such a stressful situation and because we mostly have order in our society?

yeah. just people that go into the milatary are aggressive and in stressful situations. tell that to the thousands hurt and killed by gang members and other idiots walking the streets.

but anyway. pity he only got 100 years. personally i think he should have been hung.

Without a military? Just about anyone.

Oh really? What if everyone was armed and we had militias? I highly doubt it.

And there's a use for a military: defending the homeland, not policing the fvcking world. I don't mind having a military as long as it's purpose is to protect america, i mind having a military whose purpose seems to be 'making the world a better place'.

Should we have stayed out of WWII in Europe since Hitler was not an immediate threat?

Tell me, what good is a citizen militia against an airforce? A nuclear threat? ICBMs?

Well, since the military is made up of normal people from our society you'd have to expect that a few monsters would be able to get into the system. I don't see this as a total misuse of power by US soldiers in Iraq though. I see it as a crime committed by a few US soldiers. Nothing more...nothing less.

our troops are like the police there. they are in a position of authority. would you consider it an abuse of power if a cop pulled you over and gave you a ticket for no reason? would you consider it an abuse of power if a couple police officers broke into someone's house and raped and killed the family while on duty? or would that fall under simply a rape/homicide case?

It is not an abuse of power by the military overall, but it is an abuse of power by each soldier as they knew they have ultimate authority there (in the absence of their superiors).

But when you ask soldiers to do a policeman's work while they have to worry about getting blown up by carboms and the such, things aren't always gonna be peachy (not referring to this horrible incident btw).

Again, without saying what I think about the current war, have you no concept about how what goes on globally has an impact on us locally????

Remenber a little dude named Hitler and the whole WW2 thing we stayed out of until Japan bombed our ass????

while i agree we should not be the "worlds police" we do have to defend those we have treaty's with.

yes i think Iraq is a huge clusterfuck and us going in made the area far worse then it was with Saddam in power. I do not blame the soldier. they do what are told. Bush and company deserve 100% of the blame. to go off on the rant you did about the milatary is insane.

sadly bad things happen. In EVERY conflict crap like this has happened. there are bad people in every walk of life.

i agree when a country we have a treaty or pact with is attacked we need to help. It is a pity we even waited so long to get into WWII.

But i do not like what the current admin is up to. they start a war with a country with NO proof and they are saying the same type of bullcrap with Iran. Personally i would rather have the troops that are in Iraq in Afghanastan looking for O'sama.

And i'm pro-nukes, they're an excellent deterrent for invasion.

And i'm sorry if you believe we'd be speaking german if we weren't involved in WW2

Ah well. Have fun in your little fantasy world there, Phokus. Keep on spitting in the face of those who protect your freedom.

Maybe you should study history a little bit to understand why isolationism doesn't work.

Actually, it was the allies INaction that lead to Hitler. It was Germany's aggression in the first place that lead to the treaty of Versailles.

And don't give me this sh1t that it's an 'isolated incident' and not indicative of the military as a whole. The fact of the matter is that the military trains people to dehumanize the people of the country they're invading and sh1t like this happens. Maybe not all of them are murder/rapes of little girls and their families, but i'm sick and tired of hearing about these crimes taking place every now and then. And of course there are the crimes that don't get reported because it's so easy to do in such a chaotic environment.

Troll much?

You should remember, though your opinion is strong against our govt. and military it is that same govt. and military that in years past has come to the call to defend ourselves so that not only do you have the right to spew forth your nonesense, it's also protected by the very people you hate.

When you say years past, you mean, of course, World War II? Not much since then to speak of so far as "defending our freedom". It's more appropriate over the last oh, 70 years or so to say that americans opposing infringing government policies are the only thing between us and totalitarianism - not our military. Even though it's popular (and ignorant) to say otherwise. "Support your troops who are defending our freedom" sure makes an easy copout for vietnam, proxy wars in central america, and the present clusterfvck. It's not about the troops at all. It's about being brainwashed by a clever catchphrase that preys on your sentimentality to essentially support policies of aggression.

Yes, excluding Germany from the negotiations and forcing excessive reparations had nothing to do with the rise of Hitler. Nothing at all. Yup.

Maybe you should read a little history to understand why interventionism doesn't work. Just ask Britain and how they completely made the M.E. into what we're fighting today.

As for 'spitting in the face', blah blah blah. I'm sick and tired of this P.C. bvllshit when it comes to the military being the highest ideal and beyond reproach.

Germany was the aggressor and therefore responsible for millions of deaths. You don't negotiate with an aggressor. And why shouldn't Germant have paid for their aggression? The reparations post WWII were, and still are MUCH higher.

The ME/UK issue wasn't interventionism, it was colonialism. Who needs to study history?

The ME/UK issue was because the Ottoman Empire joined in on the losing side of WWI. The Allies broke the Ottoman Empire up into (pretty much) the Middle East we have today based on lines drawn up by the UK. Wasn't the best idea in the world as it ignored cultural and religious lines but I'm not going to blame them for people attacking and killing innocent people today.

I wonder if you work up this kind of outrage when you see a video of an Islamic terrorist with a backpack full of explosives turn that backpack towards an innocent woman and child to make sure they are the first to go in an explosion? How about when you a video of an Islamic terrorist behead an innocent man or woman? How about when you read a report of an Islamic terrorist driving a car bomb into a crowd of children?

Nope...you save it solely for the US Military where the actions in this OP are the exception and not the norm and the people who commit these actions are prosecuted and put in jail.

I wonder if you work up this kind of outrage when you see that sh1t happening in Iraq AFTER we invaded?

And last time i checked, islamic terrorists aren't representing the USA.

Ha ha.

If only you knew what I've been told by Iraqis about the things that were happening before we got there.

What good is bombing and nuking a country when you eventually have to put troops down on the ground to oppress the population and strip them of their freedoms?

The Iraqi people were not oppressed before and had freedoms?

It was all fields and of honey and children flying kites...
