I bet they are dead now.

o well just less idiots in the gene pool

lol
there r still pirates? i was totally thinking of pirates with eye patches and swords! stupid me

damn, that's pretty funny. You think you're hitting a defenseless cargo ship and somebody starts shooting off a 50 caliber machine gun at you!

ROFL!!! Ahh man that is some good stuff. It would be pretty funny if they got on board only to see a couple hundred US sailors making them their b1tches. Wonder how these pirates would hold up compared to the Aussie hookers

LOL...That thread was funny

I wonder though how much damage they did to the boats because they said they sped off after they continued to be fired at, Im curious if the bullets were even hitting the boats or just near enough to scare the crap out of the pirates enough to leave them alone.

Ummm... if I go to hijack a boat that I think is just a cargo boat, and someone opens up with a 50 caliber machinegun, you bet your ass I'm out of there ASAMFHP

Pirates have and always will be a part of sea life. A modern day pirate is simply a thief on the water. He'll take your boat, kill you and rape your wife. Modern day sailors who are smart are always armed with some type of gun to repel boarders.

They warded off six small powered boats? Good lord, I hope they did. It would be yet another embarrassment if they couldn't. But, anyway, congrats guys!!!

For those that apparently aren't aware of the facts. This was a USNS ship manned by American Maritime Officers. It is not manned by the U.S. Navy but by contract personel. The USNS ships are support ships to carry fuel and supplies for the Navy. They also play a role in fast deployment of the Marines.

I was surprised to see they even had 50 caliber machine guns. Normally they are not armed, at least not with large weapons.

Thats pretty cool..i always wanted to be a pirate after watching Tailspin where they had Don Carnage the air pirate.. hehe 😛

damn and the navy let em go. shoulda kept firing at em😛

Seeing that nobody got hurt... THAT IS HILARIOUS!!! Oh man, that would have been funny to watch. I would have hoisted a U.S. flag out back first though- might make them think twice/recognize who they're screwing with.

Reminds me of that scene in U-571...

I bet they feel nothing now. Except maybe the wind whirling thru the 50mm holes in their bodies...

lol, they weren't firing tank shells 🙂

Tanks fire 80 mm and 120mm

yes, they do. I was pointing out that 50mm is a lot larger than 50 caliber.

a gunner on the deck of the Diehl opened fire with a .50-caliber machine gun. Those on deck said it appeared the men on the small boats tried to surrender,

I bet the pirates also had to change their shorts after this.
