This incident MAY change the result of US elections. I point my finger at those who will benefit from a Hawkish US president.

so a secular dictator was keeping things under control and the fundamentalists in jail. The DOS has been supporting islamic fanatics in North Africa, middle east and pakistan. they helped overthrow secular dictators and now this happens.

why the fuck does US always thing short term instead of long term

There are limits to free speech. Knowing something you "say" might cause this outcome should fall under the "scream fire in a crowded theater" category.

You're saying US citizens in the US need to limit their free speech because others in the world will kill if offended by it?

Yeah...F that...

This incident MAY change the result of US elections. I point my finger at those who will benefit from a Hawkish US president.

Possibly, except that (1) Romney has already proven himself totally incompetent in foreign affairs, (2) Obama has already proven himself to be hawkish enough for the vast majority of Americans-his stepping up of the drone campaign, ballsy decision to send in the SEALS instead of a drone for OBL and surge in Afganistan, and (3) Romney could have very well already blown any political advantage he could milk out of this by his premature and unwarranted criticsm-most of the media/pundit attention will be focused on Romney's mistake.

And that doesn't even go to the issue of does anyone perceive Romney as more hawkish than Obama-except for Iran, where Romney (apparently) wants to invade now, Romney has been amazingly silent and/or contradictory on his Middle East/Afganistan views.

So you are saying it is okay for muslims to get riled up over muhammad cartoons or quran burnings but not okay for the us to get pissed over the burning of a US flag...

Does your hypocrisy ever end???

You seem to be missing the point. You know what happens when we piss them off. Why keep fucking with the nest if the sting can be so viscous? Also, we can get pissed over the burning of the flag but it is not worth putting lives at risk.

Yea I'll agree with that.

I do worry that we've already swatted the hornet's nest too many times for that to work anymore. There was a time for what you propose, and it was many decades ago.

I still agree with what you're saying, but I just fear that at this point vengeance, and momentum will drive it forward even if we try to wash our hands of it now.

And what about Europe? Do we just sit back and watch them fall? Look at the data on native European birth rates, compared to Islamic birth rates, immigration, etc.

Remember when the Taliban blew up those Buddhist statues in Afghanistan and the west was outraged?

Within your lifetime, you may see the great art and history of Europe treated in much the same way. I hope I'm wrong.

I think not all of Europe will go as lambs to the slaughter. When they see their culture truly threatened and defaced before their eyes, they will fight back, and it will be brutal and bloody (and racist and genocidal.) The Europeans have it in them to fight and win.

the obama's first instinct: sympathize wit the attackers.

Your first instinct - to politicize the death of your fellow Americans, and to spread absolute falsehoods about people simple because they're on the other side of the isle.

Obama's remarks:

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack. Today, we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake: Justice will be done.""

You burn the nest not the field

That movie cost $5 Million? What a waste of money. I thought it was pretty hilarious, tbh...not worth all the outrage.

Well Obama will have 2 months to ensure that "Justice" is done.
Both in Egypt and in Libya.
For every day that he does not do something; Romney will be hammering away at the lack of inaction.

"we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist."

Sounds good - didn't work. A united middle east with nukes. Priceless.

They blew it all on really, really good catering.

Let's hope. Ironically, our greatest hope in this may be that the Islamists continue to behave exactly true to form, overreach... not be patient enough. I have no doubt, if they were patient enough they could conquer the world. I hold out hope that they will prematurely flex their power in Europe, make power plays too early... their men will continue to gang-rape European women on too wide a scale... and incidents like this in Libya and Cairo will continue to happen, and I hope that at some point eyes will open due to this.

And some long dormant will to survive and fight back will awaken in those who currently slumber in the warm blanket of liberal eutopian thinking. Or that at least, they will shut up and get out of the way of what needs to be done being done.

The embassy is considered sovereign US soil.

No it is not.

This is a pretty common misconception because embassies have a number of unique protections under the Vienna convention, however for the most part US embassies are NOT considered US territory.

I wonder why NO US Marines guarding the diplomats in Egypt and Libya?

Cost cutting measures to hire foreign security guards?

Holding out hope for gang-rapes..... glad we have our priorities straight in this thread.
