Typical Press overreaction

well, the first article is from the sun. so...people might read it but people wont believe it as much as the guardian one.

and it seems like the only reason it is brought up is becuase the mother blames the game. the press isnt really saying "hey, lets blame the game!" ala trenchcoats and metal music.
 
clearly he had pyschopathic tendencies unrelated to that video game otherwise most ppl on this board who game would be behind bars since middle school when mortal kombat first came out......

Its an 18 and over game so he should not have been playing without his parents' consent in the first place. I blame this murder on irresponsible parenting more than the game itself.
 
I still want to start a website called "Blame GTA", and this article would be good for it, but I dont have enough ambition anymore. I'm too busy caught up in the real world. 😱

Manhunt is a gross game. I don't really think anyone should be playing it. But, it is also a free country, so I don't think the Gov't should be saying they can't either. The company should have had some morals and never have made it though.

But without Doom as a training tool, our soldiers would lack the necessary skills to defeat the cybernetic demons that plaque us on an almost daily basis. Banning Doom is not the answer. If our soldiers aren't trained to know how many shotgun blasts it takes to kill a CacoDemon or the best way to strafe around Imp fireballs...how will we defend our earth against the demonic hoards?
 
I wouldn't dismiss this so quickly. I grew up on games like Mario Bros. and you should see what I do to turtles!

Ugh the parents are irresponsible whiney little b!tches who don't realize just how stupid they are. It seems her mother knew about the game and since she let him play it, she's a complete retard and a failure as a parent.

I rescued 2 of these guys from the highway just yesterday and set them on their way back off in the woods away from the road.
 
as usual, the parents fail to realize their fault in all this (esp if the game is rated for mature audiences only, i.e. 18+ yr olds). regardless, i somehow doubt a video game would have pushed a 17 yr old to murder - im sure he has always had some deep psychological problems...

Yeah, box turtles are some of my favorires. Turtles are really the only reptiles that can be considered cute.

Why GTA? That is the game which inspired me to get my motorcyle license so I can jump ramps onto roof-tops! (stairway to nowhere few blocks down of the firestation, 1 block from the gunshop)

So what you're saying is according to your morals they shouldn't have made it.

I'm not trying to start a flamefest or anything so don't take this in the wrong way it's not a personal attack but everybodys morals are different and who is to say one set of morals is more correct than another?

Suffice to say if there is a market for something it will be made regardless of whether some group or faction think it's immoral (sp?), I personally think bondage and S&M are depraved and disgusting but some people are into it, that doesn't make them any less moral than me or any worse as a person because of it, it just means they have different values.
