I'm a moderate democrat, so I don't want to destroy the institutional power of black voters. I don't want the party to go full communist and put people like AOC, Bernie and Warren in charge.

If it was framed as white evangelicals taking advantage of souls to the polls, liberals would be whipped up into a frothy outrage about how soul to the polls was turning America into a white supremacist theocracy.
If you are a moderate democrat and call aoc and Bernie communists you have no idea what you are talking about. You just spouted right wing propaganda by misusing the fear word communism. Just like fox news and Trump needs you to

Was at the last post this was identified. Me thinks he speaks with forked tongue.

Bernie sanders praises communist countries all the time. They have high literacy rates from what I hear.

Oh bullshit. He said a couple good things happened in communist countries while clearly opposing their authoritarian regimes and their regimes in general. Like I can say a couple good things happened under Trump but still say and recognize he is still a fascist piece of garbage.

Yup.

So much for Democrats getting anything done in this Congress. We liberals all lamented the fact that Obama only had 10 months of majority rule—at least he got the Affordable Care Act (watered down as it was.) Biden’s first term will be even less impactful legislation wise—and again through no fault of the Executive Branch.

The sad thing is I mostly agree with Manchin—we should always pursue bipartisan legislation when possible. But when it’s no longer possible, and the other side is actively working to undermine democracy, playing like its business as usual won’t get you anywhere.

Bipartisanship would be nice if the other side ever negotiated in good faith. But either way, the right to vote is far more important that that principle. Manchin's argument that something is bad because republican's will never support it is ridiculous, when he knows full well their motivations have nothing to do with security and everything to do with locking in minority rule.

No you're not. Clown yourself all you want but not gonna let you spout your bullshit here and be yet another full of shit asswipe that claimed to have #walkedaway despite clear evidence you were always what you finally claim yourself to be. Either you're oblivious to yourself and now just realizing what you've been the whole time or you think you're actually persuading anyone to fall for your shit, but all you're doing is the same clown routine we've seen over and over from people like you.

There is clearly something going on. He is not that stupid.

I think he's trying to carve out a legacy as being some hero that preserved "both sides", and thinks he's preventing either group from getting their agenda. Kinda like how McCain tried to pretend the same thing with his bullshit "maverick" nonsense, which basically boiled down to him acting like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum if people didn't hold to the moronic decorum that he had build around himself. Manchin strikes me as very similar, like he's some old guard preserving the sanctity of the Republic by keeping the broken system from working properly.

We were getting kind of thin on rightwing liars around here so it's good? to see Someone get assistance. Carrying the load of lies for the entire Republican Party had to wear a guy down.

I disagree, the other side doesn't want it at all and will not allow for it in the least so why pursue something where you'll never get anything at all done?

People are getting tired of it, people think that Biden is useless because of it, people vote or they don't and with all the voter suppression laws that Manchin apparently think are fine you'll have republican voters and people who don't really give a fuck about someone who can't get anything done anyway.

Bipartisanship ended when the repubs took the house and senate under Obama and it's not coming back.

The list of racist states wasn't updated since like 1963. Virginia was still on the list ffs.

This is one thing I agree with Manchin on. Just get rid of the select list and have the law apply to ALL states going forward. The idea that any one state is more adept at New Jim Crow than any other is asinine. See Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and nearly every state west of the Mississippi.

Manchin could have insisted on that instead of going full dbag.

That's ridiculous. Universal mail in voting is a far from Jim Crow as you can get. All of the 5 states that have it, including my own, are west of the Missisippi. The notion that our systems are insecure is pure bullshit, a product of weak minds & vivid imaginations.

What's being lost here is that Republican Trump cultists can openly admit to trying to steal elections and their base gives no shits.

It's time to separate blue states from red.

The Dems are too naive to stand up to these fascists. It's time to make a run for independence

I love how some people just ignore Texas law included phrase "purity of the ballot box", which means preserving the white vote. They included it and then claimed "another mistake"

Whenever Republican blatant racism is pointed out they just say another fucking mistake. There have been many of those fucking mistakes in these new laws.
