Two PS3 annoyances

Here are two things that really annoy me about the PS3.

1. The HDMI signal is lost sometimes. Then I have to jiggle the cable to make it get signal back.

2. The remote controller disconnects itself. It happened with the SIXAXIS and maybe the Dualshock as well. Even when the controller seemed to have full power, it just lost connection. The Dual Shock controller may just be losing power much quicker though. However, it would still be a nice idea to pause the game or movie when the controller is disconnected.

Anyone else have these issues?

I never experienced either issues with my ps3. Have you tried another HDMI cable?

It kinda sounds like the ps3 and your tv is having issues shaking hands sometimes.

Umm.. you have a dud or a cable dud or you're doing something wrong. I've had my PS3 for about half a year now and my controller has never just disconnected. I do not use HDMI so I don't know about that, but the cable may just suck or the port is a dud.

On my 2006 model Samsung DLP, HDMI has never dropped with my PS3 60GB launch unit. My Samsung upscaling DVD player using HDMI does sometimes fail to sync initially on power-up, then I have to cycle away and back on the TV's inputs.

Both are using Monoprice cables bought together, same model / same batch. So it's probably a handshaking issue between the 2 Samsung devices.

I had a connection problem with the remote early last year where it lost its pairing after the PS3 shut down but I haven't had any dropped connections with the remote, sixaxis or dual shock.

My HDMI signal is never dropped and never have a problem with my computer getting disconnected either

What DOES annoy me is that when I turn on the PS3 it boots my PC off my network (both the PC and PS3 are wireless) and it takes a few minutes before the PC can connect again

^ Change your resolution to 720p if it bothers you.

The controller thing is a known issue with the SIXAXIS. Apparently it doesn't happen with the DS3 though.

Never had that problem with my Sixaxis and I don't know anyone else that's had that problem either. So much for this "known issue" that nobody is talking about.

A quick google search would have proven you incorrect.

Small example

I think it's more of a problem with older controllers.

My post history here has an obvious slant towards Sony, you think I'd make that stuff up?

I get the following issues with my SIXAXIS:

- random drop
- random button press (triangle, up)
- current direction press gets stuck for a short period

Here's another lengthy thread

I've never had the random button press, but your last and first issues are the same issue. If your controller loses sync while you are pressing a direction your character in the game will often keep going in that direction for the few second it takes for the controller to re-sync.

Well, I separate the two because sometimes the drop results in the controller turning off.

Both of those issues are as old as the hills... there are always HDCP compatibility issues, and people were complaining about the controller drop-outs since launch.

i get the drop out issue all the time, and yes the "button sticking" issue is the same issue as the dropout issue, only it drops out when holding a button down.

i've never had it randomly press a button though ever.

and these problems exist on the DS3 as well from what I hear.

I've been using HDMI since day one and have not had a since signal issue. But, the controller thing use to really get to me--especially when it would end up killing my guy in a game. I remember playing Resistance and my guy ran full speed off a cliff! But I havent had this happen is SO long I figured it was just fixed, or maybe it's because I'm using DS controllers now.

Oddly enough my controller works from the farthest corner in my basement to the opposing corner in the top floor
