What the FBI is doing is behind closed doors.

These pictures are out in the open and spreading like wildfire.
And we all knows what happens when 4chan ID's someone.

Also, with 4chan you never know what you are going to get, you know somebody is going to post some bullshit photoshopped image or animated file to fuck with people.
Doesn't change the fact that they are some of the same images that the FBI is looking at. In fact the FBI probably has more of them.

here's some of 4chan's sleuth work...doubt it means a damn thing. Coincidence, but intriguing nonetheless

Oh, shit, that would be one hell of a coincidence. If nothing else, that has to be a "person of interest".

Image tags removed for clarity of thread as people in them are not suspects.

Lots of backpacks are going to look exactly like that, I'd think. The bombs were either on timers or remotely detonated, so it doesn't make too much sense to look for the bomber in photos taken at or near the time of the blasts. They should be away from the area by then. You never know though.

Does anyone recognize any of the circuit boards?

It's amazing how they comb through the area just to find the smallest bits of evidence. It's probably worse than a needle in a haystack. What do they do if it rains?

They would put up shelters, I believe. Over the areas where they believe evidence can be recovered.

With all the people looking for pieces how can you miss a pressure cooker lid or a circuit board?

One thing to make the scope *slightly* less complicated is that the batteries in those pictures aren't exactly an off the shelf Energizer or Duracell. Those are sold online or in specific places like hobby shops.

CNN is saying that a suspect has been identified from videos, but they don't know whether or not he has been apprehended. Don't know how reliable this is considering all the misinformation posted so far, but we'll see.

edit: Now saying an arrest has been made.

im one of those guys that usually carries a daypack and i tend to bring too much stuff. often enough it has camera gear in it. now with an MFT kit my bags got much smaller, but anyone shooting with a dslr and lots of lenses will have a pretty big bag. they usually come in black.

if i was at the boston marathon to shoot pics, i'd now be circled on jpegs circulating on the web as a potential bomber. oi.

so it seems it is clear the backpack was just left on the ground. not inside a trash can, as there have been no photos of an exploded trash can. that would mean the suspect probably left it there for not too too long before the explosion.
