Black jacket, gray hoodie and wearing baseball hat backwards is what I'm seeing on local news ticker of the suspect in the videos.

FBI used cell phone call logs to identify suspect.

LOL, now CNN is saying there's been no arrest

Strange, when I bring up the link it looks like they updated the actual story with the arrest info (as opposed to the timestamped updates they had before):

Oh nevermind, they updated the front page, now it says "Conflicting Reports on Arrest".

It's pathetic, breaking news isn't even worth looking at anymore, it's all about getting the story out first for the views, forget the fact checking. Well, if the person wasn't fleeing before, I'm sure he is now.

I have got to get back to work, there is too much interesting investigative work going on in the internetZ!

I feel bad for the people who will end up getting targeted by this mob-investigation. If the truth turns out to be otherwise, all people will have to say is "Sorry" and then carry on all the while, the people that were wrongly targeted will be scarred for life (if something truly unfortunate happened because of this crap).

Wow, some crazy work going on there. Very impressive.

I couldn't help but chuckle a bit when someone circled the pic of the girl in tight yoga pants and wrote "Da Bomb".

Totally dude I caught that too!! Took me a minute to figure that out. I mean yeah, that's why I was staring for a minute........

They found the guy, they didn't, they did, they didn't... FFS

Every news outlet is competing to be the first and perpetuating information from the same source without vetting it as if to keep their mouth shut would discredit them. This is pathetic.

i guess tripping somebody or having it stepped on is a lot better?

No, you put it between your feet so it's resting on them out of the way of other people. You can even see his arms in the last photo hanging down in front of his body like he is holding the top of the bag keeping it from going somewhere while it's resting on the ground.

Yeah, news orgs need to understand that they are not twitter.

I'd like to see fact-checked articles with official sources and well written stories from the news companies and leave the micro updates to twitter randoms.

sep 11, fukushima, 96 olympics, either iraq war.....it's more important to say something to justify their existence than it is to disseminate accurate information to the population. the truth matters, not facts.

I hate to sound so dour, but people don't care about fact checking. They watch whoever reports something first. Fact checking died when the 24 hour news cycle was born.

Solid journalism takes time and money, and the public is not willing to spend either.

now fox is saying no arrest has been made.

Yeah, I don't think one was made:
A message sent to Boston officers on the police scanner, however, said flatly: "Despite reports to the contrary, there has been no arrest." The message added that officers should "remain diligent in our mission."

Would probably be more accurate to listen to a scanner app for Boston PD than rely on the news.

It's interesting to see people who are not there and have no real clue about what's actually happening are now "investigating." It happens in a so-called technological society where people want everything instantaneous. They can leisurely sit at their desk and post pictures and "evidence" even though what is reality might be totally different. Everything goes.

The fervency with which the news is stumbling all over itself to post each new tidbit before it's even verified is astounding. Literally every "breaking news" update has been wrong in some respect it seems.

And in the process they do a horrible job of presenting accurate information. Congrats news media... :whiste:
