My wife works 1 block from the location. She is ok and says that she could feel the blasts in her office. Her building is being evacuated now.

There are some fucked up people in this world. I just don't understand what would possess someone to do something like this.

I can imagine that people who are there are too busy helping or that the cell towers are overloaded or that people are just too stunned to answer there phone. So I wouldn't read too much into not being able to get in touch.

btw there is video of the explosions now showing on the Boston tv stations. They appeared to come either from a building or just in front of it.

I have been at the scene of suicide bombings in Israel. The scenes will never leave my mind. One of the most horrible things you can see. God bless everyone who was affected by this, including the first responders who will not sleep for a long time.

Hopefully being just a few minutes from the finest medical centers in the world will help the victims.

I'm from Atlanta and went to those Olympics, luckily I was not a Jack Mack and the Heart Attack fan so I wasn't there for that. I do remember Richard Jewell being the initial suspect for quite awhile, but according to the Wiki "Security guard Richard Jewell discovered the bag and alerted Georgia Bureau of Investigation officers. Jewell and other security guards began clearing the immediate area so that a bomb squad could investigate the suspicious package."

I always found that very highly odd.
