Man, my other buddy qualified but hurt his foot the other day and couldn't make it to the marathon. Small miracles 🙁

Last ones I'm like to post. Again VERY NSFW GORE

These are immediately on scene, and show a couple different angles. I don't think everyone made it.

Could anyone simply walk onto that street near the finish line? Was there no security to pass through where bag were checked? That seems odd to me.

It's an annual event where people jog through public streets. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but how do you think they'd be able to control such a thing? More to the point, WHY would anyone have expected such a thing to be locked down until this point?

About the guy in the cowboy hat helping the man with no legs:

"The man in the cowboys hat is Carlos Arredondo. He is an immigrant citizen of the U.S. who lost his son in Iraq and is now a peace activist and speaker. When the explosions happened, you can see that he did not hesitate to run towards the chaos and help, obviously trying to get this poor man out of there and to hold a tourniquet on one of his severed legs. Later, he was being interviewed, visibly shaking from shock and holding an American flag, soaked in the blood of other people. Carlos Arredondo's selflessness and bravery should be known and applauded." Source

I think the death toll has to be higher. I see at least 2 maybe 3 people that are clearly dead or nearly so.

[Update, 8:55 p.m. ET] A Saudi national with a leg wound was under guard at a Boston hospital in connection with the bombings at the Boston Marathon, but investigators cannot say he is involved at this time and he is not in custody, a law enforcement official said Monday evening.
[Update, 8:54 p.m. ET] Three people were killed in the bombings, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told reporters Monday night.
[Update, 8:52 p.m. ET] The FBI is taking the lead in the investigation, Rick DesLauriers, FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Boston field office, told reporters.
[Update, 8:44 p.m.ET ] The Boston Celtics home game against the Indiana Pacers, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was canceled, the NBA announced. With the regular season almost at its end, the contest will not be made up.
[Update, 8:36 p.m. ET] Investigators have warned law enforcement officers to be on the lookout for a "darker-skinned or black male" with a possible foreign accent in connection with Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon, according to a law enforcement advisory obtained by CNN.
The man was seen with a black backpack and sweatshirt and was trying to get into a restricted area about five minutes before the first explosion, the lookout notice states.
[Update, 8:35 p.m.] Hospital workers have treated 141 people after the Boston Marathon bombings, officials at those facilities said Monday night. Two people died in the terror attack, including an 8-year-old boy, a state law enforcement source said.

The reason it went for everbody's legs is likely it was at the bottom of the box. Folks legs absorbed the biggest energy. Lucky only do "few" died really. We got lucky.

A Marathon normally have ALOT of police AND medical personnel ready to get into action to aid the tens of thousands of runners - thank god they were all there to take action otherwise the death toll would be much higher given the updated numbers are over 100 injured.

Also add to the fact there are other medical/police running the race themselves to aid the victims.

Lastly, Marathon runners are some of the healthiest people and many of them that did not finished or finished the race immediately went to hospitals to donate their blood for the victims.

Runners are a tight knit group - many of them after finishing a half-marathon or full marathon would join everyone else in the stands along the last legs of the race to cheer everyone else finishing.

Those two women look even worse off from this angle. 🙁

EDIT: Just noticed that the guy in the middle of the second photo is the same guy in the wheel chair.

One thing I don't get, there is a police officer every few yards of the line and many many additional security and this happened right behind them there must have been at least 50 cops in the area. Boston police department should be ashamed of themselves. I was watching the news and it also occurred to me that every policeman running to the scene was fat. Obese cops are a sign of an incompetent police department.
Nutcases will be nutcases but the police were and are incompetent.

It's not that simple. We'll have to wait and see how the bombs got there whether they should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe they should, maybe not. Having a fitness policy for a law enforcement agency is a great idea but not as easy as you would think. Simply put, it's expensive. If you have a fitness policy you also have to have workout time. So now you take guys off the streets and put them in the gym. Then your going to have workmans comp claims due to injuries from working out. It just doesn't work for most departments. What a lot do with pretty darn good success is fitness incentives.

Prayers for a quick recovery for those injured and for the families who have lost loved ones.

Very NSFW : Gore below

Another view of the guy who's legs got blown off:

He must have been standing just a few feet away from it, hope he makes it!

F*ck. Thank you got posting a warning -- seriously. F*cking CBC Newsworld didn't. They may have before the story, but I turned to the channel afterwards. Guy was in a wheelchair minus legs, but shin bone intact.

Good luck to the that guy and everyone else affected.

Yeah, I saw it on BBC and I was like WTF?!

Hopefully there will be a camera that will help identify who planted the bombs, what a cruel evil thing to do, I could maybe see someone going after a person who wronged them but bombing an innocent crowd? killing an 8yr old boy?, what a fucking monster, I hope the cons rip his nuts off in prison if he get's caught..
