I'm confused - that supports my position that the electoral college advantage is not sufficient to overcome his current approval deficit.

I guess normally I’d agree—somewhere between a 0.5-1% advantage. But this gets amplified in a low turnout scenario. That’s where you can see greater inversion and Republicans still win with 5 million fewer votes.

David Correia has now been arrested, making the fourth arrest in this scandal.

CNN is also reporting that the Federal investigation into Giuliani is a counterintelligence investigation that has been going on since February.

Yeah... Arrested at JFK airport. Sure seems like the feds are not trying to jump the gun with a lot already known. No one is getting busted until they're at the airport which also suggests they are keeping close tabs on the suspects and have warrants already should someone attempt to leave the country. Who knows how deep this could go.

I also wonder how much of this might have been an offshoot of the Mueller probe and perhaps why he wasn't more aggressive in countering Barr's total cover up job.

I don't like to get my hopes up but this seems more likely every day. It would also explain why Trump is still currently trying to dig up dirt to discredit Mueller and his report.

Uhhh, no...

"is in federal custody after flying Wednesday to Kennedy Airport in New York City to turn himself in, federal authorities said."

What source is that from? I was referencing the one linked from NY Daily News which certainly does not state that. It doesn't state he had a one way ticket out of the country, either. I think it's a reasonable inference from the prior 2 arrests, but I have no evidence beyond that.

Se the Boston Globe link in #202.

Indicted Giuliani Associate Ties Case to Trump

One of the two indicted associates of President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani, on Wednesday tied the case to the president himself, saying that some of the evidence gathered in the investigation could be subject to executive privilege.

The unusual argument was raised by a defense lawyer in federal court in Manhattan as the two associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, pleaded not guilty to federal charges that they had made illegal campaign contributions to political candidates in the United States in exchange for potential influence.

Prosecutors say they have gathered a large volume of materials as part of the ongoing investigation, pursuant to more than a dozen search warrants. Mr. MacMahon asked that the government use a special team of prosecutors to review the evidence, saying Mr. Parnas’s relationship with Mr. Giuliani indicates some of the materials may be protected by attorney-client privilege or executive privilege.

“These are issues we need to be very sensitive to,” Mr. MacMahon told a federal judge on Wednesday. “I’m not telling you I know how to resolve this.”

It gets better...apparently part of their plan in Vienna was to arrange a meeting between fired Ukrainian prosecutor Shokin and...Sean Hannity!!! I guess this was all part of their plan... to announce the investigation into Biden on FOX News??

maybe in trumplandia. Crimes do not get protection from attorney-client privilege, as the rest of us know

I believe the argument is more of Executive Privilege one. Material that involves the Office would be protected even if Lev is working for Russia and the Russian Mafia. But then again Trump can shoot not just someone, but everyone on Fifth Avenue and nothing could legally be done about it.

I wonder if people before Bastille Day felt a little like us now? That's a hypothetical musing for "those people".

The only thing that would make me happier than seeing Trump go down would be to see Hannity go down with him.

No talk of this?
Case is ramping up and a safe door was blown open.
Bringing explosives guys in to access a safe seems like it would be a major pain in the ass. Not something you’d do for a small crime.

If true, the safe had likely been moved to a secure location. When the FBI has a warrant to open a safe, they'll git'er dun, one way or another. Whatever it takes.
