WHY? I have no idea, but I always saw plenty of idiots trying to impress/nail 16 year old bimbos. Shame because there are so many older girls who like us.

The only reason this hit the press is because somebody died. Guys are always sneaking chicks into the barracks but they kick 'em out and then cover it up afterwards, even when its underage girls.

That area outside of Tacoma is dirt poor and Pierce County is the meth capitol of the state. Always some bullshit going on at that base...stolen equipment leading to weeks of barrack lock downs, 4 Ft Lewis Rangers in military gear robbing Tacoma banks, and most recently soldiers from Ft Lewis driving up to Fraternity Row in Seattle, beating up UW students, mugging girls.

I'd like to see local law enforcement in on this, but nope, its being handled internally.

There were older girls who liked us!? What the hell? Man, in San Diego the quickest way to get shot down is to tell a girl you were in the Navy/a Marine. It seems like every girl who has lived in SD for more than 5 years has some horror story about how they were dating a sailor until they came home one day and the guy was making out with their mom.

I always tried to avoid the subject until they already liked me, and thought I was 'one of the different ones'. Then I could start hitting on their mom.

Murders are a yearly tradition at Ft. Lewis. A girl I went to HS with was murdered during an attempted robbery by a Ft. Lewis soldier back in 2006.

Edit: After watching you take glee in the soldier suicide thread, I dont find it hard to believe your tone in this post.

We know tensions run high here. We know tempers flare past the breaking point. We have allowed P&N to remain a rough and tumble place, so as to allow it to remain operating at all,

But . . .

If you're going to make such an "on the face of it" unacceptable statement towards another poster here and then try to pass it off as a joke or some sort of poetic license . . . or, whatever . . .you had better decorate it smilies and winks and butterflies and . . . stuff.

Or you could simply think better of it and erase it. One or the other, please do one or the other.

Norfolk and San Diego are the two biggest bases in the world, and our reputation wasnt very good at either, BUT it was possible to meet plenty of girls. And marines never had any problems, they were always highly preferable to sailors and most civilians.

All the time I was in I never heard about our reputation for meeting chicks then fucking their moms. Strange.

Also, outside of Norfolk & San Diego our reputation is always much better. In China Lake you are considered a meal ticket for young girls who wanna get the heck out of there, especially if you know you can get transferred to San Diego on your next assignment. In Iceland chicks love sailors (especially black dudes). Shame they closed the base.

I was mostly kidding, I never really had problems picking up girls and I just made up the thing about moms. In reality the complaints were mostly that sailors were immature jerks... which is pretty accurate, haha. I would have to say that most of the girls I dated in San Diego viewed the military thing as a minus though.

I never went to Iceland, but in Australia the girls were all about it. Here in America girls fall over for guys with Australian or English accents. In Australia girls fall over for American accents! It was the best.

I don't think that last part is accurate. The local court (ie., state not federal) does not have jurisdiction over military property -- it's federal land. The military would have to grant or cede jurisdiction.

Crimes committed on federal land inside state boundaries doesn't exclude it from state jurisdiction. There has to be a compelling reason for the issue to remain within the military chain of command. That doesn't mean the military won't make it damn near impossible for the civilian authorities to investigate which is often the case.
