Turn on computer, no post, hit reset button, post! WTF?!

11x100 or 11.5x100 seem to work fine. It's just when I go close to or above 1.2GHz that I have to press reset to get it to post.

Perhaps then we'll know if it is the multiplyer rather than the CPU speed?

11x112 (1232MHz) posts, 11.5x100 (1150MHz) posts, 11.5x105 (1207MHz) doesn't post. I don't know why. Like I first stated, 1.224GHz and 1.232GHz will run for hours on end without problems. So the CPU speed isn't out of spec. I don't know what the problem is!

have you tried manually setting the vcore jumpers?

You betcha. I've tried pencilling the L7 bridges (making the default voltage of the core 1.85 volts), setting the voltage using the motherboard jumpers, and setting the voltage using the system BIOS. I've even tried them all together, and combinations thereof.

I'm following this thread to see if an answer to my problem comes up.

I have the same problem (except it does post sometimes without resetting), but interestingly it just started occuring out of nowhere several months ago. My computer has not been upgraded for two years now. Completely the same system for two years! So it's nothing I've done to it.

I imagine it's something worn out or now defective but am not sure what it is. Frankly I'm so used to it now.....but I wouldn't mind fixing it if it's simple and inexpensive. I hope to hang onto this system till fall when I get a whole new setup.

I'd run it at 11 x 112 then, you'll get a memory performance boost at that setting - assuming it is stable at that

I am running it at 11x112. But it still doesn't post at that speed unless I press the reset button after turning on the power.

Anybody have any more ideas?

Is there any way you can try another power supply? Maybe the voltages are not stable quick enough.
