"The server has refused the connection"

"There was an error reading from the server"

And once we FINALLY both get connected, we immediately get DC'ed with a similar error message as the above listed. Whats going on here? We both have the latest 1.41 patch...did we waste $60 buying this to play together?

I gave up on BF2 months ago. I had fun for a few months, but gradually the servers became worse and worse, and EA didn't seem inclined to do anything. Then there was the whole stats fiasco where the stats didn't tally properly for weeks on end. Also, cheaters galore. Sorry you decided to get into BF2 at this point, it used to be pretty fun.

Not sure how the mod population is doing, but I used to play Point of Existence...found it to be much more fun than vanilla BF2.

To be honest, I think your gf would have way more fun playing TF2. The large variety in the classes is very attractive.

We had loads of fun playing bf1942 together, we like the use of vehicles and such (we are an amazing fighter-bomber team) :D

I know we are behind on the times with BF2, but is the game seriously broken now? All the reviews seem to be positive, Im

Thanks downloading now. Do you know if I will get the same connecting to server errors trying to use this mod as I do with BF2...or does it use some different type of launching system?

TF2 is a wreck right now, thanks to Tuesday's update. And there is no class variety - half or more people on a given team is going to be a medic.

A girl? That plays games with you? PC Games and not mind games? WTF?:Q

You make sure you keep her, I didn't even know that it was possible until today.

At the moment, possibly. Give it a week when all the kiddos have their achievements and things will be back to normal.

Sounds like you 2 are having network issues, possibly due to how your network is or isn't setup. Try getting BF2 working on 1 machine first, that way you limit the number of points of failure. DMZ that machine if you have to.

Ehhhh...I doubt this is the case. We dont live together atm, so having the same exact network problem on 2 seperate networks isnt the issue...or at least i hope!

So you guys are on 2 separate networks and both don't work? That is pretty odd. Make sure you have the latest version and try manually updating punk buster.

yeah, it's true. although generally, i don't go medic unless the team needs a medic. if that is the case, then i'll try and get the new equipment (without jeopardizing the team's mission :p)

You may need to update punkbuster. Go to evenbalance.com and find bf2. there will be a manual update option where you download a html file and place it in your punkbuster folder.

Yeah both of us have 1.41. We are able to play together now (I think EA 'fixed' the issue), its just that maybe 50% of the time one of us cant connect to the same server as the other...I did some research and apparently its an EA problem (go figure). I googl'ed my error messages and there are forums with people bitching about the same thing.

I agree with the punkbuster update. Try that, a lot of people are being kicked for it. As for retarded servers, ours is great when populated. We've had some trouble lately as the game gets older, but the IP is 75.126.13.132

Be sure to look at the dates of those forums, etc. Honestly, just by reading your post, sounds like you have a network issue, not a BF2 issue. (despite all the negativity from users who probably never play the game anymore).

Personally, I have no issues with BF2/BF2:SF. I play it each night with no hick ups. If you're behind a router, check your ports. Google 'multiple computers playing BF2 on same network' (assuming you and your girl are playing on the same workgroup). Honestly, this is more network related, not so much software. BF2 has its CTD's, then again, what game doesn't. Also, it can be server related, there are a few servers out there that lagg and crash, be sure you find the good ones with good pings. I have plenty of favorites if you need some (if you're West Coast).

On a side note, BF2 is still a great game regardless of all the EA haters out there. Don't get me wrong, TF2 is great too, played it but kind of got bored with it (same ol). Where as BF2 there is a lot of various teamwork type of plays that occur. (I would play in 32 max Infantry Only servers) If you like Vehicles, also go for 32 Max. 64 is just rape from every corner and you can lose a lot of interest. But with you and your gf, it should be fun. You + any Real Life friend is ALWAYS a plus in this game. Cheers

I just started playing it again. I like the game especially because of 64 players and I think that's what makes it different from all the other FPS games. On karkand I also snuck into the USMC uncap and started taking out all their strategical structures. Once they found out what I was doing I stole their own tank and ran away with it. That's just genius to be able to do that in game.

My BF2 name is -SP2000- if you want to play a game, should be fun since I'm usually just playing with random people.
