fact: you were speeding above the posted speed limit

problem: you are trying to get away with breaking the law

solution: shut you damn mouth and suck it up, pay for the ticket, ...like the rest of us would.

Forget paying the fine. Get a local traffic lawyer who knows the judge and he'll get you out of it. Well worth the money in ticket cost and raised insurance premiums.

Sure, he was speeding. Should he pay the fine? Sure. Should he totally disregard the other options the system affords him? I think not.

Having said that... to the OP: You got caught. Pay the fine.

It does not matter if you were going 8 miles over the limit or 28 over the limit. All that matter is that you sped, you got caught and you need to pay. Just like it doesnt matter if you get caught stealing a dollar or a hundred dollars ...you steal, you get caught, you gotta pay.

Pay the fine.

Paying your fines straight-up is like always buying electronics at Best Buy, or putting a major purchase on your credit card and making payments rather than applying for a lower-interest loan. Sure, it's easier, but it WILL cost you a lot more. Be a smart consumer! Know your legal system!

And Cor, shut up, FYI 5-8mph over the speed limit is, statistically speaking, the safest speed on most roads. That's because of how speed limits are set, which is based on the 85th percentile speed, minus a few MPH because they know that everyone speeds.

Obviously, I can't speak for everyone, but in NJ I've found the cops to be very reasonable. There's a major interstate (287) near my town, the speed limit is 55 but the traffic flows at 80. Despite the fact that people are exceeding the speed limit by 25 MPH (almost 50%) you almost never see anyone pulled over.

My experience (in NJ) has been that if you are going with the flow and not doing anything dangerous; you won't get pulled over. I got pulled over for the first time in 7 years of driving about a month ago because I was going faster than the flow of traffic, and rightfully so. I paid through the nose ($700) because in NJ they charge an extra $250 to keep the points off, and I didn't have my proof of insurance in the car (had just used it for ID to renew my license)

But I deserved it, so I'm not really upset about it.

To the poster or posters that are upset about how younger drivers are treated - younger drivers are more dangerous. Just look at the statistics. It's not because they're bad drivers, it's just because they're inexperienced. You won't believe me, but wait until you get a few years under your belt, then get into a car with a recently licensed driver, you'll be crapping your pants.

Jagec......... It's all about not getting caught. If you get a ticket....... Pay it. I just find it amusing that most in here try to flip things around and make people feel like you're an idiot for not speeding.
You and most in here are "probably" just disgruntled because you've had to pay speeding tickets? FYI, I've no need to worry, I don't get tickets.

Be a smart consumer! Know your legal system!
Be a smart driver and never speed/get caught speeding and worrying about paying or fighting a ticket.

Oh....... shut up................ That's grand

Oh, I see, so since you've never been "caught", you've never had to take your advice. Unless you've been in their position, you have no right to dispense advice.

I also love the way you dodged somebody else's question earlier in the thread: IF you had gotten a speeding ticket, would you simply have paid it? This question has nothing to do with being "smart" or being "stupid", just fcking answer it, Mr Holier Then Thou.

Here's another question for your to ignore: If you have two people cruising along at 6mph over (Say, 41 in a 35), and a cop pulls over one of them, what makes the person who got pulled over a "stupid" driver, and what makes the one that didn't get pulled over a "smart" driver?

Never been in their position? That's right. So you're giving us your intellectual posts why? I suppose you've gotten tickets in the past then.
Nothing makes him stupid other than speeding. Doing 41 in a 35. Pay the ticket!
The one that did'nt get pulled over? No smarter for speeding.

Maybe I have, maybe I haven't. It's irrelevant; I'm not the one handing out advice as if I'm a Divine One from on High. I'm also not going to brag or bitch about it either way.

That would make you no smarter then the guy asking what to do about his ticket! GENIUS!

Edit: I noticed you dodged the "IF" question again. "IF you had gotten a speeding ticket, would you simply have paid it?" ANSWER IT!

I don't get speeding tickets.
If I ever get a speeding ticket in a second life, it will be for 2.5mph over the limit. Yes, I would pay it. **LMAO** As for you telling me I'm dodging a question....... I've been saying all throughout this thread that if you get caught speeding, pay the damn ticket!

I'm done.
One more time for those of you that cannot READ:
If you get pulled over for speeding and get a ticket, pay the ticket.

While I'm gone, you guys can get back to agreeing with yourselves that speeding, getting tickets, fighting tickets, wasting your time fighting tickets is a good thing and well worth it.

I didn't bother reading all of CorCentral's post considering they're all whiny and retarded.

But more on the subject,

Fight the ticket, you have that right, and if in the end you have to pay, at least you tried.

Also ticketassassin has really great info, even if you're not in CA :p
