Trying to decide on a new phone...

I'm currently due for my 2 year upgrade through Verizon, and my Samsung SCH-T300 is getting a bit dated.

I'm currently leaning towards the Samsung SCH-A670.

I can get it for $29.99 with a 2 year contract and my $100 discount. I looked at the LG VX700, but it was a good deal more @ $80, and I really don't have much of a need for the extras it provides.

My only concern is a lot of these new phones are all digital, and while I have digital coverage in my immediate area (southern NH), it looks like if I go north much my phone will be useless.

The only phone that looks decent, and is still tri-mode is the Samsung SCH-A650, but it has no camera and a non TFT screen.

My cell phone is also my primary phone as I got rid of my land line years ago, so a decent phone is important to me. Features like wireless web access and IM capability are useless to me, so I more concerned with call quality and performance. From the reviews I've read, the A670 does very well on call quality and decent on battery life.

Any input from current Verizon users?

Also, I could get the Motorola V710, but $150 is a waste for the features I'll never use like bluetooth, etc.

i have the A530, which has pretty much no features, no cameras, anything but i like its size.

you should play with this phone though. my bf likes my phone but he says the buttons are too small for his hands.

Why? Verizon kicks the sh1t out of other providers.

Thanks, I was hoping someone out there had one. How's the internal screen?

The user reviews I've seen are almost all positive...

That depends on location, and their hardware sucks donkey nuts.

Ok, for the sake of argument, what other deals would be good? Keep in mind I live in southern NH, and this is my only phone...

i love my a670. its a great small phone and picks up great reception where other phones do not. the camera is a great camera, the flash can be useful, and the video is nice too. the screen is perfect size, the buttons are big enough to hit, and i just love it.

Thanks., that's exactly what I was looking for. How's battery life? I wish those extended batteries weren't so expensive...

And their monthly rates are way too expensive for not-enough-minutes.

well seeing as how where im at verizon coverage is iffy, and it goes in and out all the time thus wasting more battery life, it will last about a day.

but at my home where i had coverage all the time the battery could last about 2 days with moderate talking.

I can't seem to locate a extended battery for the A670 anywhere but @ Verizon... Anyone know of anywhere that might carry them?

I dunno I just got a VX6000, and it seems pretty cool. THe battery lasts for 2-3 days, charging about 3-4 hours each time. I am dissappointed that its digital-only, but I havent run into any problems yet, and it actually gets better reception than my tri-mode I used to have. The camera feature's okay, but I'm getting the USB cable for connectivity this week so I can actually do stuff with them without having to pay $$ to send it.

Careful of cheap batteries - I got some on eBay for what seemed to be a good deal but they were crap - Wouldn't hold a charge, etc. Pay the money, get the real thing and you'll be better off.

Thanks for the advice...I'll probably do that. I wish they would let you choose which battery you wanted, instead of charging you full price and making you get a second one.

If it's your only phone, and you know it works for you, DO NOT CHANGE providers. They ALL SUCK! It's all about finding the one that sucks the least for you and the way you use your phone.
