I guess if there's an upside to all this, it's that within 20 years we'll have wildfires raging across the country that are only extinguished by the regularly occurring category 6 hurricanes. Agricultural production will be destroyed, so the gun nuts will sweep across the country killing the unarmed (myself) for whatever canned foods we have in our living spaces, then turn the guns on each other. The last of the survivors will run out of food and probably die of exposure in giant pools of hog shit.

And that will be it. No more racism, no more sexual assault, no more ICE, no more fracking. Any trace of intelligent life will be buried deep under the earth as another age of insects takes over. Maybe in a few million years another intelligent species evolves and wipes themselves out, eventually the sun burns out and swallows the earth.

Or both parties could nominate centrist judges instead of trying to pack the court with ideologues. Personally, I'd like to see it be a 2/3 vote for confirmation. Surely there are judges out there that appeal (or are at least palatable) to both Democrats and Republicans. Having the support of a small majority shouldn't be enough for a lifetime appointment.

You obviously forgot about Merrick Garland.

Widely regarded as a moderate, Garland had been praised in the past by many Republicans, including influential senators such as Orrin Hatch of Utah.

But even before Obama had named Garland, and in fact only hours after Scalia's death was announced, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declared any appointment by the sitting president to be null and void. He said the next Supreme Court justice should be chosen by the next president — to be elected later that year.

That is the McConnell rule. That’s the new norm. In the unlikely event the senate falls to the Dems there will not be another pick for Trump.

In fact I’d say the McConnell paradigm is to win by any means necessary. So I’d say court packing and/or impeachment will be on the table too.

It’s not how it’s suooosed to be but it’s how it’s going to have to be.

Pack the court and admit all US territories as states, and DC. Also redo the congressional apportionment formula and float the limit on US house max members to give population centers higher levels of representation in the US House to counteract antimajorian Senate and even executive.

If Republicans want to compromise in the future amending the constitution will be required. No reliance on norms or tradition or the word of any particular person.

Love the fear mongering. Its all you guys have today and contributes to our overly partisan world. Trump is winning, getting it done, and you simply can't handle it.

I see comments like this and wonder wtf people like you are smoking. Whatever it is it's making you dumb as rocks. You are right, Trump is winning, but not for you, me, or anyone under the millionaire bracket.

I see comments like this and think about how similar they were to those by the smug left before the election. If you aren't benefiting by the conditions today you only have yourself to blame.

All of this is absolutely on the table. My generation will not forget Kavanaugh. I'm glad he was confirmed because it's been the last straw for all of my peers who I've spoken to so far about all this. Hope regressives are ready for some major changes ... extra representatives to more closely capture the will of the electorate and four new SC judges when the time comes.

This is key and it can be done with no changes to the Constitution. That the current formula is considered Constitutional is a travesty. The Reapportionment Act of 1929 needs to go.

Changing the confirmation of SCOTUS nominees to a simple majority vote wasn't purely partisan, was it?
Turning a simple advise and consent role into partisan trench warfare was solely caused by the Democrats starting with Bork and Thomas. You're getting pissed because Republicans fought back.

Good luck getting those unconstitutional changes through the House/Senate/Presidency and through the courts. Ain't gonna happen. Why not just be honest and foment an armed insurrection instead?

Nothing I’ve described is unconstitutional, in the least.

Well... the signs are not good.
The wage in America is still stagnant. A lot of $10 an hour jobs that employers are CRYING, literally CRYING to fill because the workers are simply not to be found.
Actually, the workers are out there. It's just that no one can make a living on $10 an hour.
Add to that, people having these $10 an hour jobs have no healthcare because that comes out of wages "if" the employer even offers healthcare.
And the talk about companies offering a living wage stopped the day Donald Trump took office.
Remember how focus was placed on companies to adjust their wages when Obama was in?
And that worked to some extent. Companies gave it up from the minimum $7.25 to $8 - $10.
And all that wage talk ceased the day Donald Trump took office.
So wages are still a huge issue. And so also the problem companies are having finding workers. Like I said, no one wants a $10 wage with no affordable healthcare AND still unable to pay their rent, car, gas, groceries.
Add in a kid or two, and you're really fuc#-ed.

After the wage thing or lack of, you also have MASSIVE SPENDING by these so called conservative republicans NOW IN CONTROL.
No one talks about the incredible massive debt the US is chalking up. Daily.
No one speaks of THAT, as if the shet will never hit the fan.
But it will hit the fan. And when it does guess who will pay the price?
The Donald Trump's? No....
The corporations? No....
The CEO's of those corporations? Hell no.....
The middle class will pay. And those impoverished. And the sick. And the elderly. And those on social security. And those on disability.
In other words, again we will be royally fuc#-ed as a nation.

Then what?
Well, what do you think???
What usually happens when our busting economy has no legs to stand on?
Ask anyone that lived thru the 1920's. They will tell you.....

Winning streak?
More so, how about the delusion of prosperity.
How about the illusion of all is well in Trump land.
How about a bucket of shet just waiting to hit the fan.
Lets just see how all that work Donald Trump republicans wasted on the US Supreme Court pays off for them THEN.....

The left is melting down like a small child that didn't get their way.

Something conservatives say after rigging the game. We’re done listening to this and will consider more radical yet fully legal solutions. Republicans don’t deal in good faith and we’re not going to pretend like they are anymore.

Well its quite obvious why they did this.. they will appeal every election loss to SCOTUS just like bush v gore so even if they lose 80-20, it'll be declared a win for the neo nazi crowd.

And they'll just say.. GET OVER IT like Scalia did.

The only way to solve it is treason charges for the entire administration, congress and judical appointments who are carrying out the Russian desired destruction of America.
