It's interesting how some people believe a fetus has untouchable rights and deserves the utmost importance...

Yet welfare and socialism is evil after birth.
The majority of pro lifers are just as bad as the white supremacists. They aren't pro life at all, as most of them are against anything to help make life more equitable post birth. It's the worst with the evangelicals. These folks are pro fetus, and after that it's go fuck yourself. The evangelicals just want more souls to go into the afterlife post armageddon, other than that they don't seem to support any policy that helps society as a whole. From environmental laws, to higher wages, to healthcare, to easier access to education. It's all Marxist and evil to them. They are all horrible people by this point.

Ugh. Conservatives will turn discussion of RBG & her successor into their usual abortion debate, disregarding the rest of it. RBG championed women and all the little people in ways that Barrett obviously will not & we'll be worse off for it.

They don't give 1 fuck about the fetus, because if they did, perhaps they'd give a fuck about that baby, and that infant, and that toddler, and that child, and that adolescent, and that adult.

What do US Conservatives rail on about?

The "cradle-to-grave nanny state".

In other words, Republicans give a fuck about the fetus, because the laws they pass defacto affect the female incubator.

But once that fetus hits the air and the cradle...you're on your own.

Once that fetus is out in the world, they're totally OK with that breathing child to fuck right off with socialist food stamps, universal healthcare, universal daycare, universal education, universal higher education, universal basic income, etc.

They. Don't. Care. About. The. Life.

They care about regulating female incubators.

Anytime they bitch about anything that might help that fetus once it ain't a fetus, you know god damn well they were lying the entire time.

As I said in another thread. Not a fan of the Barret Pick. My order of preference would be

Lagoa

I think trump just went with the best looking of the bunch after being presented with several choices to pick personally. I think both sides are arguing the stupidity of any changes really to Roe v Wade coming with any nominee. The left are making it the boogey man, and anyone on the right thinking any substantial changes or a repeal will happen is having a pipe dream. I think getting Barnett through though is going to be harder to do overall as well.

I remember reading about that as it happened. I couldn't believe I was reading that. Years later, I watched the film Philomena. While it wasn't the same issue, it was another issue that left me disgusted with how Ireland was at a time. Who knows what will come out in 30-40 years time.
Forced removal of children is a horrid activity and happens all over the world. We were still removing children from indigenous parents in Australia until far too recently.

My grandparents conceived their first child out of marriage. Thankfully my grandfather's family were pretty progressive for their time and supported them, otherwise they would have had to give up my uncle.

The book with the title The Stolen Generation is commonly found in libraries here in America. I read it during Christmas 2001. I'd picked it up without having read the back of it or the inside flap. As you would imagine, most people's spirits were rather dim that year due to the terrorist attacks. I felt sick after I read it then. In those days, I was an avid reader. Being able to read several hundred pages a week and being able to take it all in. A lot of it has stuck with me over the years despite having grown older. Nearly every country with an indiginous population is guilty of hatred against the indigenous and designing programs to eradicate them.

I probably wouldn't have thought this a decade ago but we've seen "conservatives" true colors over the last four years. Conservative are against abortion because they understand that forcing a woman to have a kid puts the women at a disadvantage and keeps her down/in check. A woman not burdened with a child they either weren't ready for or not capable of taking care of (because they can't afford it, it has special needs, or simply lack the mental capability) is more likely to to gain wealth and ultimately power. Both of which are a threat to men (specifically white men) and their pursuit of power or their desire to maintain their power.

That's it. Their power and wealth are central to their being and can easily explain all the bull shit policies they support. Of course there are those who have real concerns but we aren't talking about your basic conservative like the posters in this thread, we are talking about those who already have the wealth and who already have the power. People like the male posters here are simply useful idiots who have been groomed/brainwashed to care about a subject that has little to nothing to do with them (remember, they don't have power or wealth so they aren't threatened by women as a whole gaining a seat at the table).

Human life, in fact all mammalian life begins at conception. That is the consensus of biologists and it's straight science. There is no other scientific answer.

Splitting of cells and cells multiplying begins way before conception. Why take cancer out, it’s life based on the definition of the splitting of cells and them multiplying. Is life just splitting of cells and them multiplying? Is it consciousness?

For some leftists it's not until it takes a breath. Disgusting, that there are people who think it's ok right up until birth.
With this appointment, thy will be done. 🙂

You can have all the births you want so you can kill them after that. Why is every pro-lifer is also someone who loves fascism, war and guns. Respect the unborn, but the born, off with their head.

No is doesn't. Pregnancy by definition does not occur until a fertilized egg implants on the uterine wall and starts growing. Women expel fertilized eggs all the time.

When I see a plurality of biologists agree when life begins I'll consider it. Not some guy who claims he talked to 1000 biologists.

We need to stop calling anti choice people pro life. They are pro fetus. Once you are born, it's fuck you.
Absolutely. Once born they drop their concern on that life.

In fact pro life people aren't even really pro life. These same people were suggesting the elderly should sacrifice their lives to COVID for the sake of the economy. All that posturing all these years was a big fat lie. Anything for control and to maintain the tribe.

All that to stay in power, control the masses and tug on emotions. They are sycophants. Too bad their followers think they are saviors. Not sure who is more needy, the followers or the power seekers.

Boogey man I think is downplaying it. The last 2 abortion cases at the SCOTUS were 5/4 decisions where surprisingly the chief justice sided with the liberal side . In fact the last case he only sided with them with no real explanation, though it seemed to mostly be about keeping precedent. At 6-3 it's more and more likely that increasingly stringent restrictions will go through and eventually when enough restrictions are in place the entire ruling goes away.

Lagoa btw is wholly unqualified. In fact I would say kavanaugh, gorsuch, and barrett are all grossly unqualified as they haven't been on the bench that long and were selected largely because they were young (and unexperienced). Compare barrett's resume to that say of merrick garland and you'll see it's a joke. An utter joke. None of these 4 would have cut mustard 10 or 20 years ago but in this recent age of trying to control the court for a decade they are passing through. The next GOP judge will probably be 28 years old at this rate.

Back in 1995 when my 14 year old niece needed birth control she asked my older sister to accompany her to get the pill because her own mother refused to accept that her little angel was sexually active.

So, when at the clinic my sister was stunned by the number of Hispanic girls in the clinic waiting for abortions. These girls were all young in their teens. You can imagine the picture....some boyfriend knocked the girl up then dumped her.

When Roe vs Wade is overturned, and only an idiot would believe it will not, expect to find babies tossed into dumpsters, toss into ditches along the roadside, Tossed into trash cans. And expect to hear of young women having bled to death from failed self abortion.

What pro-lifers refuse to accept is that not everyone has moral and financial support. Not everyone has a lifeline. When young women are knocked up by some smooth talking creep who then bails on them, women who are alone, women who had hoped that this smooth talking special guy would stand by them, when that happens to young women all alone those women will resort to drastic actions. They cannot support themselves yet alone support a newborn or having access to medical support. With Roe vs Wade overturned we will see more young women dying, their newborns dying, and people like Amy Coney Barrett will think that just fine. Pro-lifers world have won the battle with having absolutely no clue as to the consequences they have created.

I remember the news of unborn babies found in the dumpsters back in the day. I agree. We could see this played out all over again.

It's over now, but RBG should had left office when Obama was POTUS. She knew that she had cancer. It was her EGO that put the Democrats and the people who are going to suffer in this very difficult position. She should had retired. But now, many Americans are going to be screwed, and the Christian Evangiles are rejoicing.

As to the political calculus yes she and Breyer should have retired in 2013. That so much depends on the partisan tilt of a court with 9 appointed members instead of the legislature who is supposedly responsible to the electorate is not an indication of a well functioning system of government.

wall street journal commenters are excited

they think that with a majority SC, the US can finally get back to the way it was before the "progressive wave" in the 30s
